I woke up with a start. Already it was four in the morning and I was awake for the day. After shaking out the sleepiness from my eyes I got up and stretched and headed downstairs to make my cup of coffee.
I passed by my mom's room and heard the shower on. I knew it was my mom getting ready for work as she worked all morning to all night. It was hard being a lawyer I can tell. She has to be in order to pay for my sister's college classes and my brother Byron's athletic equipment. As for me, as long as she buys my coffee stash and my gas, then I am all good.
I turned on the coffee machine and switch on the TV to Fox news. I rummage through the fridge, seeing if there was any leftovers from the night before. I sit down with a plate of warm pizza and my coffee and sat down, thinking about the day before me.
You see, my brother is the high school basketball star. Everyone calls him Hops because he jumps higher than anyone has ever seen. Take that and add my sister, who is gorgeous and was the Prom Queen her senior year, you get two older siblings who were high school legends. Now, you would think I would be an amazing girl who all the guys want and that has a special talent right? Wrong! I was just an ordinary girl that had no special qualities to me whatsoever. Was I known though? Of course! As “Hop's sister” and “Mckenna's little sister.
I don't complain though. It actually gets me off the hook since my mom fusses over them constantly. As long as I keep my grades up and do my chores every night, then I am scotch free to do whatever I want.
After I am done eating I go upstairs, grabbing my towel along the way. I take a quick shower and after wrapping my hair, I go to Byron's room and wake him up quickly, knowing he was take a while in the shower. After pulling up my favorite skinny jeans and an off the sleeve blouse, I quickly braided my hair to the side and added some mascara. It was going to be a long day already I could tell, and I knew my junior year wouldn't be any different from the other years.
Getting in my car and driving towards the school, I started thinking about my best friend Paige, whom I haven't seen over the summer. She, unlike me, actually had a life and was popular. Why she chose me as a friend? I have no idea. But she was a great friend and was always setting me up on blind dates. Her obsession in life was to find me the boyfriend of my dreams so the both of us can be happy together and spend every waking moment gushing over how cute and amazing our boyfriends are. Little does she know I had found the guy of my dreams; I just hadn't revealed him yet.
It was Jordan Shoopner, the editor of our school newspaper The Chester Post.
He was hot in every single way possible. Dark short hair, tan, white straight teeth, and light brown eyes that could make any girl melt. The problem? He only knew me as the advice column girl. He couldn't even remember my name half of the time it seemed like! He mostly called me A-Girl, my name for the advice column. I had to make him notice me. I just didn't know how to yet.
I got out my car and started walking towards the school's office building, knowing once again this was going to be another normal year.
