15. Nice Kim

When Bella arrived at the Sertori household that morning, the air smelled of fresh coffee and fried eggs. Kim opened the door for her.

"Bella," she smiled. "How nice to see you! Come in. Come in. We're just having breakfast, please join us."

"Thanks." Answered Bella, eying Kim suspiciously.

It had been agreed that on the next full moon, the girls would face the water to see if Mako's magic was killing innocent people.

But, there was a week to wait and the girls decided to use that time productively. Today, they would meet with the mother of Toby Flenderson. Toby was a little boy who died on a full moon a few months prior, after his mother lost him at a beach festival and he went to play at the pier. They needed to know as much as they could so that they would be prepared for their own confrontation with the water.

So, Sam and Emma passed around plates of eggs and veggies and mugs of hot coffee.

Meanwhile,  Lewis, Cleo and Rikki were discussing their plans for the day.

"Ok, so Misses Flenderson agreed to meet with us at 4 PM. So be ready to leave at 3:30." Cleo explained.

"What are we doing at 3:30?" asked Bella.

"Seeing Toby's mom." Answered Rikki.

"I'll be here." Assured Bella.

"Who's Toby?" asked Sam, setting down a mug.

"Oh, just an old friend of ours, Misses Sertori. His mother is sick so we promised to go see her." Rikki lied.

"Great." Smiled Cleo. "So, we're set. Please, nobody be late."

"Bella," said Kim. "Come sit next to me." She patted the seat next to her. 

Sam and Emma came around with the last few plates and sat down with the rest.

"Emma, I think Bella's eggs are cold. Why don't you go make her another plate?" Asked Kim, obnoxiously.

"What? No, my eggs are fine." Bella disagreed.

"Oh Bella, you're too nice." Said Kim.

"Or is it that you're just rude?" Smiled Rikki.

"My eggs are great." Assured Bella, eating some with her fork. "Thank you so much Emma and Misses Sertori. It's a wonderful breakfast."

"You're welcome, sweetheart." Answered Sam.

After breakfast, the girls offered to clean up. Kim and Sam decided to go shopping, leaving the house to the girls and Lewis.

Cleo and Bella loaded the dishwasher, while Lewis wiped the table and the counters with water and soap.

Rikki and Emma sat on chairs that they pushed away from the table, still finishing their coffees.

"Kim was acting really weird, right?" asked Bella.

"Super weird." Agreed Lewis.

"She's always extra nasty with me because I'm a stripper, but you run a whole porn empire and she's nice to you? It makes no sense." Agreed Emma.

"I don't think she's acting weird." Cleo states. "She's a close-minded selfish brat and she looks down on both of you. But, Bella has money and Kim's divorce is close to being finalized. She's only nice to her because she wants to take advantage of her."

"Ok, that makes so much sense." Bella says.

"Yea, for a second there I thought that we all just fell into a parallel dimension." Added Rikki.

"Well, it's only 11:30. I should go to my parents' house. I'll be back in time to go meet Misses Flenderson." Announced Emma.

"I thought your family was still out of town?" Asked Lewis.

"Yea but my mom told me to swing by because she left something for me. I don't know what it is but I can't believe they let me move back in with them after everything. So I'm gonna try my best to not ruffle any feathers." Explained Emma.

"Well, I don't have anything to do until 3:30 either. Can I come with you? We can take my car." Offered Bella.

"That sounds great! Let's go!" Agreed Emma.
