ESSENCE

"You got the lyrics written down for the hook?" Tupac looked at his friend from across the studio.

"Yeah," Essence responded, jotting down a few more lyrics in her songbook.

"Lemme hear it then."

"No," Essence scrunched up her nose, standing from the sofa she was seated on. "You will when I hit the booth."

She made her way inside of the booth and Johnny Jackson-"J" for short-the producer asked if she was ready to record and she answered with a soft yes. She placed the headphones on as Johnny cued the music for her to sing the hook that went a little something like...

"How do you want it? How does it feel? Comin' up as a nigga in the cash game, livin' in the fast lane, ah, for real. How do you want it? Yeah. How do you feel? Comin' up as a nigga in the cash game, livin' in the fast lane, ah, for real."

Exiting the booth, Tupac wore a huge grin on his face and held his arms open for her which she happily accepted, feeling them wrap around her. "Shorty, that shit sound gansta as fuck! You did that for real."

Essence starts blushing, pulling away from his embrace. "Thank you."

As Johnny played the playback for them, Essence couldn't help but smile proudly of what she had come up with.

Tupac notices it and nudges her with his elbow. "The way this shit sound, I smell a fuckin' hit with this joint."

"Hell, yeah!" Johnny agreed himself.
