"This does feel so good." I sighed lying beside him, placing one hand on my chest, the other held the joint.
"Told ya."
We laid there for a few minutes to hear the sound of low rumble of the clouds. The winds were getting stronger.
I could hear Louis humming a tune of his favourite song. When my joint died out I threw it across the terrace so it landed in the streets.
I laid there listening to Louis humming as a slight dizziness forced my eyes to close.
I heard Louis go "Fuck!" but before I could open my eyes to look at him I felt a drop on my cheek.
It had started drizzling. I sat up as did Louis. The rain was light with big drops landing on our heads.
I was going to get up when Louis pulled at the end of my trouser. "Stay."
It was the first rain of the year and it did feel good. I turned around and sat down cross-legged in front of Louis.
It wasn't everyday you could sneak into the terrace and smoke joint with your best friend while listening to him humming as you doze off and enjoy the first rain of the year altogether.
I sat there smiling unknowingly, feeling the coolness of the rain and the gushing wind hit my warm skin. I opened my eyes to see Louis smiling at me.
"What?"
He nodded his head looking down at his lap, smiling wider.
"Do you think we can sneak into the rooms before someone sees our wet footprints leading from the terrace to our rooms?" I asked breaking the silence.
"You know that Mrs Grayson has bad eyesight, don't you?" Louis said to which we burst out giggling. We were slightly high from the joints, I could tell.
Louis stuck out his tongue, tilting his head back, trying to taste the rain. I felt loony and titled my head back myself to laugh when I felt a hand touch mine.
I looked down to see Louis gripping it with his hands. I looked up and found him smiling at me warmly. "Don't worry, Zaynie." He looked up into my eyes. "We'll find something better than your trashy parents and we'll fulfill our dreams and set off from this orphanage. We'll be big and we'll enjoy our lives and live happy. Everything gets to better. We've had some really crappy childhood life but everything is balanced. Everything will change for the better. You don't need your shitty parents. You're strong enough by yourself." He gave my hand a slight squeeze ensuring me the truth of his words.
I smiled at him. "But if I do they will have take both of us! I'll make sure of that."
We sat there laughing once again till the rain decided to start pouring down on us.
We got up and ran towards the door. By the time we were inside we were already dripping from our run across the terrace under the rain. Louis slammed the door shut and we involuntarily started laughing.
Louis turned to lock the door. He was very wet from the rain, his white tee sticking to his back. He turned around to look at me but I turned my gaze away his shirt.
We started walking downstairs, Louis behind me. I felt some kind of giddiness. A tinge of genuine happiness.
"It was fun!" Louis said as I was going to round the stairs to my floor.
"Yeah!" I said, pushing my dripping hair back. Louis licked his lips and pulled me into a hug. He slapped my back twice, "We'll be okay. You will be okay."
I walked down to my room and sneaked in to see Harry and Niall still sound asleep. I didn't turn on the room lights in the fear that they'd wake up, even though I was tripping on my own feet. So i fumbled and switched on the lamp by my bed.
