4.4 The Hatching Event

Everyone in Luminance City is getting excited because it was finally time for that event. It has been passed down in their history that when the Immortal King ascended with the mythical beast from the Golden Egg, They have to wait for five years to attain a new golden egg and another hundred years for it to reach its maturity. 

The Tenth Prince was lucky enough to be born fifteen years before the Golden Egg reached its maturity, so he cannot wait to see what will be the mythical beast inside the Golden Egg. 

'Will it be a large mythical beast? With a sot, white fur and it will be able to fly with its elegant magical wings? Or maybe, it's buff but a majestic type of beast that can tumble away from the enemies with a loud cry or a powerful thump of its paws. I'm so excited to see!'  The Tenth Prince thought as he looked down and stared at the Golden Egg sitting on his lap. 

He was sitting at the cave that was his secret base, located at the shore of the island. this place was always off-limits to the people, because of his Father's obsessive craze for pearls and pieces of jewelry, this place became a breeding ground for the clams when it's high tide. There are also a few rare crustaceans and jellyfishes that would be swept here from time to time so his interest to make a secret base in this cave strengthen even more. Not only that, because of the clams and other sea creatures breeding inside this cave, it became rich in Qi, something that many cultivators are very eager to grab when they are cultivating to a higher rank. 

'This place is a perfect spot for the Golden Egg to hatch, should I also decorate the interior while waiting? Hmm... that is not a bad idea at all.'  The Tenth Prince thought before he went out of the cave to get some silk, soft cushions, pieces of jewelry, and other beautiful things inside the Palace. 

Back inside the cave, The Golden Egg was trembling, not from intense emotions but from the cold! The host doesn't understand why the temperature suddenly dropped, he doesn't have a clue at all, besides, inside this Golden egg, He can hear nothing, feel or touch nothing except him knowing that it was starting to colder than before.  

'Where did they put me? I'm starting to freeze inside! Can't they see that the egg was shivering from the outside? am I going to die here because of neglect?! I haven't even started my mission yet?! This is just too cruel!' The Host thought while squinting his and moving around until he was in a form of a round ball. 

Just when he felt that he will die in vain, he suddenly felt the heat and warmth enveloping him. It was warm and toasty, it made him calm down and think that he was saved by an unknown source of heat, however, just after a few minutes, he could feel the temperature was starting to get hotter as if it was a boiling heat inside a dessert. He felt parched and wheezing for air, his throat was clamping up and he felt the burning sensation when his skin touches the egg's shell. 

'What in the world is happening right now?! I thought I will freeze to death but in the end, I will be boiled to death by something hot?! Unbelievable! Someone open this egg and I will kill all of you! Dumbass people!' The Host runs his mouth with curses inside of his mind while slowly losing his strength and ability to think. 

'Is this... finally the end?' He thought as his thoughts abruptly stopped.

The Tenth Prince was holding a large basket filled with treasures, he cannot wait to decorate the interior of the cave and watch how the Golden Egg hatch and turn into a mythical beast! He rushed inside the cave, minding his steps to not disturb and kill any clams on the floor, and went directly to the deepest part of the cave. When he got there, he was bewildered and surprised. The Golden Egg was not in the makeshift altar that he made, It disappeared! 

The thought of not seeing the mythical beast hatch, and the dreary path of the unknown for the future of the Golden Egg made the Tenth Prince's heart stutter in beats, he put down the basket and looked around for clues. He saw three sets of footsteps on the sandy ground, as well as pieces of the talisman they used to teleport away. 

The Tenth Prince was in a state of shock, how could anyone follow his trail and take the Golden Egg from him?! How despicable! 

The reason why there's nobody that pushes the Tenth prince to the throne even though he looks decent and how caring he was, because of his own talismans and curses. At the age of thirteen, after experiencing the bullying acts of his elder brothers and almost losing his soul to the grim reaper, he started to reach his hands to the curses and talisman creations that will make anyone who dares to bully him, experience hell without dying. Aside from that, he was just a freeloader, he doesn't have much priority or responsibility because he's not the crown prince, and he's the last royalty from all his brothers. 

"Never mind the past, How did they trace my footsteps and this place?" The Tenth Prince shook his head as he looked at the crumpled pieces of paper. Who was the person who kept an eye out on him and took his very own treasure?! 

The Tenth Prince knew that he was wasting time there speculating, maybe the Golden Egg was already in danger while he was right here and thinking of what to do! He needs to trace those people's whereabouts! 

Whipping out a blank talisman from his sleeves and using his blood as the ink, he created a tracing spell in the talisman and immediately rushed to the place where the talisman was heading. 

He kept following the talisman, to the point that he bumped into a few servants and guards but he managed to slip from their grasp when they tried to catch him. 

"This is a direct order from the Crown Prince! Detain the Tenth Prince to his courtyard immediately!" He heard the loud voice of the General that he was familiar with and immediately rushed to leave the courtyard. His mind was not together with those servants who were after his tail, he needs to get the Golden Egg to safety, away from these people, no matter what!
