Aurelia's Diary- November 12th, 2021
Dear Diary,
Today was the day of Harry and I's Coronation. As the Palace buzzed with chaos, I tried to mentally prepare myself to be crowned as Queen in front of thousands. I stared at my reflection in the vast mirror, my wild hair flying in all different directions and tried to brush through the knots of my deep slumber.
"What on earth has happened?" Elizabeth gasped. She stood in a ivory dress that all maids wore and her hands were raised to her mouth in shock. "What did you do to your hair? You do know that today is the day of the Coronation?" she asked, eyes raking over my appearance.
"Yes, I do know, Elizabeth. I woke up like this, what makes you think I had a say in this?" I asked, sighing and tried to brush through the morning knots. With this distraction, I tried to push away any unnerving feelings about the day that was yet to come.
"Oh heavens forbid. Leave your hair alone! I'll deal with it," she said, rushing to my aid. Her hands grabbed the brush from my hand and began to work her magic in creating a masterpiece. I always trusted Elizabeth in fixing me up, whether it be my appearance or my chaotic thoughts.
"Elizabeth, do you think today is going to be a wreck? I fear the worst," I asked, my eyes gazing down onto my lap. My fingers intertwined with another as I tried to push away my nervous thoughts. My mind raked over all the worst scenarios that could possibly occur and my stomach did a summersault. Oh, how I wished in that moment I was normal.
"Don't be afraid. You are the most strongest person I know. Even when you were in the maids quarters, you never sealed your lips. I knew you always had something to say, always knew how to put someone back in their place. So I do not fear if something was to happen because you always know how to deal with worst," she revealed, her eyes staring at me through the mirror. A sting of guilt stabbed my heart as I no longer stayed in the quarters, never visiting because I was wrapped with my own duties and personal life with Harry. There were so many friends I managed to create a bond with and I was dying to get back there. On the other hand, I felt relieved that I had a great friendship with Elizabeth as she always knew how to comfort me in the worst times.
"Thank you," I whispered, my voice low as I feared it would break. I feared that I would break into a thousand of pieces, crying all my worries away on Elizabeth's shoulder. She deserved more than I could give her as she was always by my side through thick or thin. "I don't know what I could've done without you," I continued, the tears brimming within my eyes.
"No worries, dear. I am always here to help," she smiled, her dimples projecting against her rosy cheeks. Her hands yanked another knot from my hair but I could definitely see some progress. As she continued to work her magic, my hair turned out to be truly beautiful. Even though I was blessed with such curly hair, it always turned into a birds nest or even a lions' mane when I woke from my sleep. No matter how much I despised it most of the time, I was glad I grew up with great hair that allowed me to pull off any hair style I desired. "Your hair is certainly untameable. I understand why most of the time you try to straighten it," she said with a slight laugh. Earning a laugh from me, I nodded. As she managed to tame my curls, I decided to leave my natural hair. By being Queen, I felt the strong desire to show my true self, a new beginning set by revealing my natural self.
"Elizabeth, you've done an incredible job with my hair and make-up!" I gasped as I stared at myself in the mirror. She truly knew how to create an artwork in real life. Even though I looked like a Queen, I wasn't too sure if I was set out to be one.
"Thank you," she said with a smile tugging on her rosy lips. "Now, you must wear your dress. We have an hour before it starts!" she exclaimed, rushing to my walk-in closet. Within seconds, she walked out with a large bag in her arms. "Here you go," she said and pulled the dress from the bag. It was truly magnificent. With the colours of crimson red and gold, it hugged my waist until it flowed down to my ankles The gold sequences were strung around my waist, glowing against the suns rays that seeped into my chamber and the suede fabric felt smooth on my skin. "Exquisite!" she beamed, excitedly clapping her hands. "Definitely set out to be a Queen!"
Taking a deep breath, I knew it was time.
"Wait, you forgot your Crown!" Elizabeth exclaimed. She rushed over to me, her hands holding onto the gold crown that held so many sequences and rubies. She placed it onto my head and that's when I knew I was complete. It would be my last time as a Princess with this Crown. In a few minutes, I was to be crowned as Queen with a completely new Crown in its place.
Nodding my thank you, I turned on my heel and walked down the hallway where I was to meet Harry and the faces of hundreds of people. Elizabeth was hung on my trail, a few steps behind me and I kept my focus on what was yet to come in a matter of minutes. Trying to keep my breath even, I descended the marble staircase until I was faced with grand doors. This was the room where I was to be crowned Queen. Within moments, Harry turned up beside me, a smile plastered against his rosy lips and laced our fingers together. "Hey angel. You ready?" he asked and I nodded with a small smile.
Standing beside Harry, I felt the oxygen slip from my lungs. My legs carried me through the doors until I was met with the velvet carpet, leading to the officiant. On either sides, rows of chairs were aligned with hundreds of people staring at Harry and I as we sauntered slowly down the carpet. "Harry, I swear I'm going to throw up," I whispered. He glanced over to me, his eyebrows furrowed together in distress.
"Angel, it's okay. We'll get this over with and leave," he whispered, giving my hand a squeeze.
As we stepped towards the man officiating this ceremony, we faced him with a small smile. I glanced over to where my new Crown was, the feeling indescribable. Within moments it was to be placed upon my head and I smiled to the thought. "Harry," he said with a nod. "Aurelia," he continued with a smile. Beginning with his introduction, the room fell dead silent. "I have been given the pleasure of crowning Prince Styles and Princess Aurelia as King and Queen," he continued his speech as he eyed the public. He turned his back and grabbed Harry's crown from under the glass box. Ambling over to him, he removed his original crown, replacing it with the new and suited one with red rubies and gold sequences which was more fit for King. After all it was for his father previously.
I, on the other hand, was second as he removed my original crown and replaced it with a new and dazzling one. It was way heavier than my previous one as it contained more gems and rubies, sparkling with gold sequences. I smiled gratefully, my heart swirling with joy and realised I felt right for the job. I would sacrifice myself for the Kingdom if it came right to that.
"May you live a long and happy life," he finished, blessing us and we thanked him gratefully.
Harry intertwined our hands as we walked down the carpet. The room was filled with loud clapping, the sound echoing against the walls and whistles floated throughout the air. We were finally husband and wife, alongside King and Queen. Took us long enough, I would say.
