"How did you and Jiwan meet?" Nabi questioned after comforting Sol that everything would be okay for two hours. The girl had calmed down now and they were back in the living room once again. She starred at no particular spot and mentally prepared herself to tell the long story...
------
The last bell had just rung, only a few people were left in the hallways, and only one girl rushing in late. Her alarm clock had failed to wake her up and hence now she was late. Thankfully her locker was nearby, she hurriedly put her bag inside and then continued to rush into her classroom, earning a glare from her teacher.
Beside Mr Seo, there was a girl, she had uneven, messy, brown hair that looked rather peculiar but somehow also cool, it made Jiwan giggle. Another glare from Mr Seo, her giggle turned into a sigh. Her reputation with the teacher hadn't been so good in the first place, as she chatted from excitement to her friends on the first day while he was teaching, it lead to a permanent spot in the second row.
"Could you please introduce yourself to the class?" he asked the girl. She slowly nodded her head, obviously disliking the idea due to her evident shyness.
"Hi.. My name is Yoon Sol.. Uh.. Yeah?" she said, squirming from the questioning looks she was getting from her new classmates and teacher. Her introduction was peculiar as well.
Mr Seo gestured her to sit in the empty spot, on the left of where Jiwan sat. The girl's warm smile was slightly overwhelming Sol, but she accepted it with a rather tight one.
.
"Yoon Sol!" a girl called out as the taller girl was about to leave the classroom. She hadn't expected anyone to try and be friends with her, much less call out her name loudly. Sol turned around, meeting eyes with a girl with two thick braids and a toothy smile.
"Hi! My name is Seo Jiwan!" she exclaimed. Sol nodded her head, not knowing what to say back or do next. The other girl seemed like she was expecting a nice, cheery response back.
"Um yes hi, Mr Seo asked me to join a club so I need to get going, nice to meet you though," she replied back, after a while of thinking what to say.
"Ooo, cool! Since your new, do you want me to show you around the school?" Jiwan said back. Sol didn't particularly want her to but it was rude to decline her kind gesture so she nodded instead.
"What club are you thinking to join?" Jiwan questioned along the way, while also passing a map of the school. There were a group of friends looking at the pair, trying to mouth words to the bubbly girl, they seemed dissatisfied that she had chosen to show the new student around.
"I'm thinking maybe art club...?"
.
"Yoon Sol!" a voice echoed across the empty corridor as Sol stepped out of the art club room. She turned her head around seeing Jiwan racing towards her, her now messy braids flinging in the air, strands of it coming out.
"Oh.. hi."
"Let's go to the park nearby! Okay?" she said, still a bit breathless from the run in the hallway.
"Um sure.."
.
A rumble from Jiwan's stomach made the girl blush in embarrassment and the other tried to hide her little laugh, but failed.
"I'm so hungry.." she said, sighing afterwards and then continuing to lift her foot off the ground, making the swing rock back and forth gently.
"Oh.. I don't have actual food which could help make you less hungry but my mum did stuff gummy bears into my bag if that's alright for now?" Sol replied. Jiwan immediately jumped up, now with a grin plastered across her face, eyes glistening from the sun.
"Oh my god, yes! I love lollies. You're so lucky, my mum forces me to eat healthy all the time."
"My mum.. she's only doing this out of divorce guilt, I think.." she said back, thinking hard about all of her mum's actions these past months.
"Oh.. I'm so sorry.. I didn't know," the other girl said back, the many things she thought of saying just then were suddenly forgotten.
"No no, it's okay, it's better that they're separated, anyways, how has your day been?"
Jiwan seemed to forget the small conversation they just had and began to eat the gummy bears happily. "Well, you see.."
