My life was extremely ordinary for me. Work, go for a quick jog with Rogers (my black German Shepherd), try to get some sleep, listen to sniggers from the usual bitches and then the cycle starts again. I was at the trying to get some sleep.
My room was my pride and honour of my apartment. I had a forest wallpaper, sketches I had drawn and my bookshelves with too much content. My bed had a leaf pattern and that was were I was at 3 o'clock in the morning today with Roger besides me.
Right I thought this morning would nice, calm, relaxing, a lie in after a week of trying to help Steven Hawkins with his theory as my Boss says. But no. Not in the slightest. I wake up bashing my head against my shelf and my phone ring tone buzzing guess what bloody NARWHAL SONG! No I don't swear a lot but I did in my head at that precise moment and I mean a lot! I sat up from my double bed, trying to make sure I didn't bash my head against the shelf again and picked up the phone. "Hello." I said between gridded teeth. "Oh hello darling how are you!?" My mum screamed down the phone. She thinks I'm deaf due to working in a space facility. "Mum please I am NOT deaf! I was peacefully sleeping before you came and rang but apart from that I'm good." I replied back trying not to shout about how I need my sleep for my job. "Well darling WAKE UP. I have a surprise. I'm waiting at the door so get dressed and open the bloody thing!" The so called swear was from my family being Irish and all thankfully I had the posh English accent. I hung up to hear the pounding down stairs in the doorway. I rolled out from my bed and pulled on a t-shirt from the pile this one had a plain black background and stars splattered with many colours. I then tugged on some scruffy jeans with cuts showing my pale skin. I trudged down my birch stairs to the hallway plastered with different drawings I had attempted of landscapes in different countries. Rogers was already there barking at my mother. "Do you want the surprise or not?" My mother said through the mail box. Slowly, trying to get on her nerves I tiptoed to the door and flung open the door. "Good Morning mother why on earth did you want me today on a Sunday dawn should I say now." I spoke with a sarcastic hint at her trying to be gentle as usual. Roger wasn't to pleased with the fact either due to him growling from an disturbed sleep. In reply she held out tickets. "I thought you would like a holiday so voila!" I peered down mustering the will to speak but I just stood dumbfounded at the site. One ticket to America for 6 months. "M-mother... I cannot let you buy these. I've got work and Rogers and-" "Do not worry Mia. I've sorted out all those bloody paperwork and all of that stuff. You however need to sort out a suitcase." I nodded towards her bursting with excitement. I rushed forward and hugged her embracing the warmth. "I guess I better pack. When is the flight!?!" I inquired wanting to know. "Ummmm in about an hour." I swore under my breath and ran up the stairs leaving my mother in the doorway. "I'll go make a cup of tea shall I?" She stated after me. I didn't hear her due to rushing around my room trying to fit all the necessary things into the suit case. Right I thought suitcase. Check. Toiletries. Check. Money. Oh poop. I screamed down to the kitchen "What about dollars how can we change my money into that the airports 20 mins from here!!" "Look in your piggy bank dear." She replied calmly as the kettle binged off. I nodded and sprinted back to my room now in a complete mess. I stumbled over to my piggy bank tripping over a trainer on the way. I shook the piggy bank and about lets say a lot of dollars and cents came out of it. "Oh my goodness." I stood dumbfounded before clicking back to reality and arrived on packing. About 5 minutes later me and my mother were driving to the airport the boot stuffed with my suitcase. "Mother can I just say. I will pay you back okay because this-" "No Mia it's fine it's your birthday,Christmas and etc present. Also you need it you haven't had a vacation since you graduated." I looked at her into her deep blue eyes just like mine except less shades appeared in then. She stroked my cheek just as she did when I was younger making my eyes swell up. I pushed them back down and grinned looking back to the road again and turned to the airport. I couldn't believe just yesterday I was Sitting at a study desk trying to finish of my project on the solar eclipse now I was getting out of my bubble gum Fiat 500 and dragging out my suitcase spilling over with clothes. "Dear I know I shouldn't rush you but your flights going to take of in 10 minutes..." I swore again sheesh this day is getting the worst out of me swearing and looks wise. I wasn't that much of a looker anyway. I had clear skin thankfully, thin athletic figure and a nice face I guess. I wore my black rimmed glasses at the time but I sometimes wore contacts. My golden ish hair was in a pony tail and my fringe hung down. I swung the suitcase onto the concrete passage way to the airport and grinned at my mother. "I better go check in and put the suitcase through all of that." I said to her no walking away to the archway. "Oh there is one more thing dear. Your first class." I widened my eyes again and pushed my glasses up a smirk rising on my face. "Thanks mum. See you in 6 months!" I started walking off after the hugs and kisses. "Goodbye my dear." I heard her mumble as she took of in my car. This was just the start of a trail of events...
