Vanadey Pond was walking home, absentmindedly, after her sister called about a break in at their home. She straightened out her plaid, mid thigh length skirt and unruffled her long sleeved, turtleneck red shirt. She ran a hand through her red curls and pursed her lips slightly before walking into her cottage home that she has lived in for her entire life.
She took notice of the blue policeman box and her hearts sped up.
"He can't be." She breathed out, quickly running to the front door, but she stopped. She had to act like she didn't know. Putting on a blank expression, she stalked into the room as if she owned the world.
"Cricket bat. I'm getting cricket bat." Now she knew it was true. Vanadey could recognise that voice from anywhere.
"You were breaking and entering." She heard her sister say.
"Amy? Amy, are you okay?" She asked, walking up the stairs slowly. Once she got to the first floor, she noticed her sister in the simple policewoman outfit that she wore sometimes for her job and then the man she remembered so well, handcuffed to the radiator.
"Annie, come here and stay there." Vanadey scoffed and walked up to the Doctor.
The Doctor himself was having a hard time believing who was now crouched in front of him. He could hear her two hearts beat...still. But he couldn't think that this was the little girl from five minutes ago. In his frustration, the Doctor went to stand but was pulled back by the handcuffs around his wrist.
"Well, that's much better. Brand new me. Whack on the head, just what I needed." He said and Vanadey wanted nothing but to hug the man. However, she remembered that he left them. She knew he promised five minutes and she knew he was being honest when he made that promise but he was gone for twelve years.
"Do you want to shut up now? I've got back up on the way." Amy spat at the Time Lord that was handcuffed to the radiator.
"Hang on, no, wait. You're a policewoman."
"And you're breaking and entering. You see how this works?" Amy told the Doctor.
"But what are you doing here? Where's Amelia? Where's Vanadey?" Vanadey looked at her sister with pleading eyes but Amelia shook her head.
Amelia didn't want the Doctor knowing it was them.
"Amelia and Vanadey Pond?" Amelia questioned after her interaction with her sister.
"Yeah, Amelia and Vanadey. Little Scottish girls. Where are they? I promised them five minutes but the engines were phasing. I suppose I must have gone a bit far. Has something happened to them?" Amy looked at Vanadey sadly before turning back to the Doctor
"The Pond's hasn't lived here in a long time."
"How long?" The Doctor asked, guilt building inside him and disappointment in himself. Just what he feared would happen, happened. He let the little girl with two hearts down.
"Six months." Amy replied quickly, breaking the Doctor out from his little trance.
"No. No. No. No, I can't be six months late. I said five minutes. I promised. What happened to then? What happened to Amelia and Vanadey Pond?" The Doctor requested.
"Sarge, it's me again. Hurry it up. This guy knows something about the Pond sisters." Vanadey just realised that Amy was putting an English accent on. She herself still sounded Scottish.
"I need to speak to whoever lives in this house right now." The Doctor demanded and Vanadey stood, looking at him.
"That would be us." She said, gesturing to herself and Amy. "Amy, cut the act." She whispered. "He's back."
