Who the hell is Brian? And why is nobody telling me? I frowned and began typing back.
Yeah, Aaliyah invited me.
I chose not to be nosey and didn't ask about him and Aaliyah's situation.
Cool, I can drive if you want. We haven't hung out in awhile."
I never actually asked Aaliyah how we were getting there, but even so, what's the harm in him taking me? He is my friend and she's well aware.
One sec lemme see if Liyah was gonna come to get me
Quickly I switched to Aaliyah's messages and asked her how was she getting to the party, she said her friend was taking her. I could only assume my friend was one of the girls she met from her college program.
Yeah no, she's not. U can come to get me. idek where Brian lives or who he is LMAO
I could tell Jackson was laughing at me even through the screen. I sent him a middle finger emoji knowing what he was doing behind the screen and rolled over in my bed. We texted all night catching up.
He told me about how he's starting college next month, how his dad is on his 13th girlfriend since the divorce, and just how life overall is going. I found it a little odd how he didn't tell me anything about him and Aaliyah, but I'm assuming he thought I already knew.
When I looked up at my clock it said 3:33, my favorite angel number. I hadn't seen those numbers since about May this year and it's now August. I pulled my phone to my chest and smiled. Not long after I did that, it began buzzing, but not for a text, Jackson was Facetiming me.
"Hello?" I switched on my LED lights. Jackson's face looked calm, but I could tell he was worried or tense, really couldn't tell the difference since it was almost 4 am.
"Just wanted to make sure you're awake." He seemed to ease up when he saw me sitting up in my bed.
"Well clearly I'm awake, ARE YOU?!" I joked and he chuckled in response. I remember when he used to laugh like a donkey and his mom would bust in the room telling him to keep it down, which only made him laugh louder honestly.
"Yeah, I'm awake stupid. I miss you though." I could feel my cheeks warming up. Thank god I'm black so you can't see my blush, but I could definitely feel it.
"Miss you too, on Friday please don't come to pick me up on your bike." I snickered because I knew how to get him. Up until 3 years ago he rode his bike everywhere. Even to Aaliyah's Sweet 16. He stopped once he got his permit though. Jackson rolled his eyes playfully and shrugged,
"No promises." he simply said. We went on talking for the rest of the night. I made the mistake of laying down while talking to him because when I opened my eyes it was daytime and my phone was damn near burning a hole in my mattress.
I looked over at my screen and saw a black ceiling fan spinning. Did we fall asleep together? I felt my cheeks heating up at the thought. Not even 5 seconds later curly blonde hair showed up on the screen, Jackson was rolling over in his sleep. I'm guessing his phone was just as hot as mine was since almost as soon as his body landed on the phone he jumped up.
"Shit!" He yelled in pain. So clearly I won't be touching my phone anytime soon.
"Watch your mouth, Jack!" I heard his mom in the background say.
He mumbled a few words and left the room. Should I hang up? I must've spent too long trying to decide because I heard his door slam and his bed creek. I'm guessing he jumped on his bed.
"You snore too loud." I broke the silence in the room. I saw a blonde curl hovering by the camera and heard shuffling.
"I just know you aren't talking. You started snoring mid-conversation," he said in a groggy voice. "You're welcome for not waking you up."
"Thanks, what time are you coming to get me?" I fiddled with my thumbs.
It was silent for a second before I heard him yawn. "I'll come at like 8 or 8:30. I still have to pack." he was talking about packing to leave for college. I felt a pain in my chest at the thought of him leaving.
"Can I help?"
Jackson picked up his phone and looked me dead in the eyes. I almost melted on the spot at the eye contact, even if it was through the phone.
"Are you sure?" He questioned.
"Yeah. I have nothing to do anyway." I assured him.
"Okay. Bring your clothes for later. I'll be over in about an hour." I nodded and we hung up. I immediately called Aaliyah to tell her the news.
"Hey T, what happened?"
"Girl Jackson and I fell asleep on the phone. Well, I fell asleep and he stayed." I almost screamed it all out.
Aaliyah's face lit up and she immediately started smiling. "As you should!"
I quickly snapped back into reality that just yesterday Aaliyah was talking about losing her virginity to him.
"Aaliyah.. are you sure you don't feel any type of way?" I questioned her, almost praying she'd say she didn't feel any type of way.
"Yes, girl." She nodded her head. I still looked uneasy so she flipped the camera to show a lump in her bed, another person I should say. "I promise."
I gasped and held back a scream.
"So you did it?" I whispered.
She smiled and winked at me in response. "Yeah. Turns out I didn't like Jackson, it was really just the idea of a friend turning into something more. y'know, like in the movies." She shrugged. "So what happened with y'all?"
"He called me because he thought I fell asleep and we continued our conversation. Kinda dumb how I still ended up falling asleep." I started, "He's taking me to the party later, but first I'm going over to his house to help him pack."
I saw Aaliyah raise an eyebrow and I shook my head. "Strictly business," I added.
"And I'm here strictly on business." She almost started laughing but the boy next to her shifted.
"And when are you gonna tell me about him?" I questioned.
She giggled and got closer to the phone. "Later tonight, but let me tell you... it was amazing." As soon as she said amazing an arm emerged from the covers and she hung up.
