Jackson's Point of View
As soon as we walked in the kitchen I almost lost my mind. My eyes were jumping back and forth between Aaliyah and Brian. The fuck were they doing together?
Music was thumping through the walls, but eyes couldn't leave the on the two of them in front of me. I know I told Tiana what me and Aaliyah had wasn't serious, and it wasn't, at least I don't think it was. Seeing her with my best friend is still shitty regardless of how I feel about her.
I watched the two of them kiss as if they were the only ones in the room and all I could feel was empty. I wasn't angry. I don't think I felt sad. Just empty.
After what felt like forever Tiana finally spoke up,
"So.."
The two of them finally stopped sucking faces and turned towards both of us awkwardly. I didn't know which of them to look at first so my eyes bounced between the both of them waiting for someone to explain themselves.
God knows how long went on by the time I felt an arm drape itself over my shoulder. I finally broke my concentration on the two in front of me and turned my head to see my boy Brent.
"J! Haven't see you in a grip bruh." He moved his arm to dap me up, but I hadn't talked in so long my throat was hoarse and I felt like I forgot to talk.
"Yeah my bad, I kinda went MIA this summer," I cleared my throat, "You still making music?"
He took a swig from his cup before responding "You know it." I set my focus on Brent so I didn't have to see the scene in front of me. Brent seemed to be looking at the massacre I was avoiding though.
"But lemme holla at you real quick." He said rather coldly after looking Brian and Aaliyah up and down. His face almost contorted into disgust, but no one was gonna press him about his face, especially when they're both dead wrong.
I nodded my head and turned on my heel to make my way outside with Brent. As soon as I got to the hallway I remembered I didn't come here alone. I was with Tiana. I turned my head and mouthed to her that I'd be right back and she nodded before turning her attention back to Aaliyah and Brian.
As soon as me and Brent got outside I plopped my ass down on the sidewalk.
"Bro.. what the fuck was that?" Brent started the conversation.
"I don't even know. Me and Brian have been talking everyday since grad and I told him I was with her. He said he was happy for me." I blew air out of my cheeks.
"Mans never said he was messing with her. He said he was messing with this girl he met at some college thing." Aaliyah is doing her college classes at the same university that Brian goes to so it's nothing too crazy that they even met.
"Maybe he ain't know who she was?" Brent sighed as he paced back and forth.
"Nah, from the look on both of their faces.. he was guilty and she.." I stopped. I can't remember what her face looked like. I never looked at her. I examined Brian from head to toe and noticed everything down to the eyebrow twitches he had, but I didn't even look at her.
