CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

I woke up and Vinnie isn't beside me. I got up out of bed and went to the bathroom to do my normal morning routine. After that, I picked out an outfit to wear and went downstairs.

I'm now in the kitchen and I saw Vinnie and his parents and my face lights up. I haven't seen them in ages.

"Mr and Mrs Hacker it's really nice to see you again," I said as walked over to the coffee machine to make myself a coffee.

"Want some coffee?" I asked both of them.

They both said yes and I started to make the coffee as well. I finished making the coffee and mine as well, I walked over to the counter and gave them their coffees.

"Here you go." I smiled.

"Thank you" they both said.

"You're welcome," I said.

I look over at Vinnie and he's on his phone, so I took the opportunity to sneak upon him. I slowly walk up to him and scare him. He jumped almost dropping his phone, he catches it.

I laughing hysterically and Vinnie looked at me with a blank face clearly not having it.

"Someone's in a bad mood," Maria said to Vinnie.

"Something bad has happened." He said in a sad tone.

I stopped laughing and looked at him extremely concerned and worried.

"What's happening?" Tears started running down my face.

Vinnie was hesitant and afraid to ask me, but I told him to just spit it out.

"Uh-um-There has been a car accident and Martin and Alissa were in the car" he started explaining.

A car accident! Are they okay?! I can't believe this just happened to them. I hope they are okay and baby as well.

"Martin survived but...." I know what he's going to say next but I stopped him.

This couldn't be happening right now.

"We all need to go. Now!" I said.

"We can take my car," Vinnie said as he got up off the stool and grabbed his coat and keys.

The four of us head out the door. We all quickly get into the car and drove off to the hospital.

I don't care about anything right now, I only care if Alissa and her baby are okay. I don't wanna lose my best friend. I can't believe this just happened. We were looking forward to getting here and seeing Alissa and Martin.

We arrived at the hospital and rushed through the front door.

It was quiet, no people, no noise, no nothing.

The four of us walk into the hospital room, where there were two people. Alissa, laying on the hospital bed unconscious with an IV and other stuff attached to her. Martin sitting beside her caressing her hand softly. I feel that I'm going to be sick. I rush over to Alissa and grabbing her by the hand.

"Alissa, wake up Alissa!" I cried.

Alissa's eyes opened slowly and she saw me. "Alissa, everything is going to be okay. We're here now, everything is going to be okay." I smiled.

Martin looked at me, I still have my arm on Alissa's hand, it looks as if I'm supporting her., and Vinnie follow behind me.

"Hello," I say trying to try and give off a positive attitude.

Martin looks at me and shakes his head. His eyes full of sadness.

"It's alright, we're here," I said trying to assure him.

He shook his head once again and looked at Alissa.

Vinnie's parents were still and I feel bad that they had to see all of this.

"Alissa, Martin, what happened?"I asked them in the same try to assure them.

Alissa is not too respond and Martin looks at her.

I look at him.

"What happened?" I asked nervously.

"Some other car was going crazy and hit my car and...here what are," he said to me and then looked at Alissa.

The doctor came in and I looked at him hoping for good news.

He went to Alissa and checks if everything was okay and working.

"So, it looks like that she's still unresponsive and breathing good and the baby as well. But, I have to keep her here for about a few days." The doctor explained.

Hope she wakes up soon, I don't her to leave. We all don't.

Vinnie and his parents had to leave because something came up and Vinnie said he'll come back with Parker.

Now it's only Martin and me, sitting on both of the chairs beside her. I look over at Martin and he looks at him and I wrap my arms around giving him a big hug. He needs it.

"I don't want to lose her, Maya," he said as he put his head on my chest starting to cry.

"Shh, I know, don't cry she'll get through this. I promise" I calm him down as I stroke his hair a little.

"It feels like it's all my fault." He's now sobbing.

Martin was so happy that he found that Alissa is pregnant so excited to start a family with his now-wife. Now sitting here and seeing her on the hospital bed is just a hit to the face. It hurts so much.

"It's not your fault don't ever say that," I said comforting him.

"Remember that one time freshman year in high school where you were just so nervous to come up to us and talk to her. You were just so cute." I said lighting up the mood.

He chuckles "yeah, I remember I had a really big crush on her," he said.

Two hours go by and we talk some more about happy and fun moments and about how much the three of us had fun.

Vinnie came back with food and Parker came walking towards me looking confused. I picked him up and sat him on my lap. He looked over at Alissa.

"Is Auntie Alissa okay?" He asked.

"Yeah. She is okay. Don't worry" I tell him.

After we all ate we sat around waiting hopefully she'll wake up. Then all of a sudden something. Her eyes open. I quickly got up and pressed the button so it calls in a nurse.

She rushes in and checks if everything's working and she's okay. Everything's okay.

She's awake.
