She felt so disappointed that she almost wanted to go away, but then he spoke again.

- I see you've received my letter... - said he.
She stopped and listened.

They were on the opposite sides of the thermal bath so Charlotte didn't feel in danger, however there was something scary about that man. Maybe his kind voice, because it sounded just fake, untrue.

- I received it weeks ago... - she whispered.
- I know – he laughed, he laughed so hard – it's not my fault if you weren't able to find a suitable place to meet. –

Charlotte felt angry and embarrassed at the same time. He was...making fun of her, and that was something unacceptable.

However, she was there for a reason. She needed information. She wanted to know more about Daniel's death...so Charlotte decided to ignore her anger and continued to talk.

Actually, she even talked faster, because she didn't want to look weak in front of him.
- Why did you write it? – she asked.
- Because you wanted to know...you wanted to know too much. –
- I'm an agent, that's my job. –
- No, no, no... - he said in a very weird way. Then he started to come closer and Charlotte decided not to move, to pretend confidence, even if actually she was screaming inside.

Now they were on the same side of the thermal bath and just a few steps separated them.

- You are not allowed to investigate... You already know everything about Daniel's life. –
- And his...death? What about it? – Charlotte asked again, sad and worried at the same time.
- His death... - he repeated, looking around, with a confused expression.

She understood he was still making fun of her, but she didn't reply.
Instead, she focused on herself, trying to understand how she could have escaped from that place, if necessary.

- You know, I thought you were smarter... -
- Well, thank you – she replied as soon as possible.

Then she looked at him with a very disappointed expression: he probably was a killer or another kind of criminal. He wasn't there to help her, just to annoy her.

Charlotte wanted to leave immediately, but then she stopped.
- Do I know you? – she asked.
- No. –
- Did you know Daniel? – she asked again, trying to annoy him as well. Probably that wasn't the right choice, but she didn't want to go away before having her "little revenge" against that man.
Unfortunately, he didn't answer.

She was scared, so much scared...but decided to talk to him again, at least once again. Because she really wanted to know more, she needed the truth, at least a part of it.

It was dangerous, she knew it, but she had to stay.

Finally, he spoke.
- Yes, I know lots of things about him. -
- Explain more... – replied Charlotte.
- Mm...more, more like who is supposed to be his killer? –

This time Charlotte wasn't able to understand...and, suddenly, she stopped caring about his words. She was too tired.

And she was also starting to freeze in that opencast Roman Baths; at that very moment she was continuing to curl up inside her black coat. She was almost disappearing in front of her enemy's eyes.

- Don't you want me to... to tell you more? – he asked suddenly. For the first time in that conversation, he really seemed surprised.

Probably he thought she would have been desperate, heartbroken because of Daniel's death...and her tranquility almost disappointed him.

Actually, two years before she suffered so much for him, so much. But it was the past, after all, and her feelings for Daniel had changed enormously in the last weeks.
