Chapter.5

The next morning, finnick shakes me awake. "Get up" he commands "get up" I roll over "go away!" I wave my hand in dismissal "training starts in an hour!" He says
That perks me up "training." I say sheepishly rubbing my eyes "yep get up get dressed then breakfast and training!" He dashes from my room.
I crawl out of bed and head to the shower, I pull of my silk Pj's and hop in.
There is a control screen under the shower head.
I tap the Botton labeled 'Soaps' 15 different names of soap appear arranged according to colour feel and fragrance. I choose a bar of blue soap that's called ocean Breeze, then 'water cycle' flashes on the screen I chose 'mild' for the flow of it and 'hot' for the temperature.
I press 'Start'
The shower is completely automatic, after about 5 minutes the flow stops and I get out.
A fuzzy towel awaits me. I wrap myself in it and dry my hair. I braid it into 2 separate braids like Sandra had done for me the day of the chariot rides, I quite liked it.
The training outfit is hung on the dresser.
I quickly slip into it and haul on the black combat boots along side it.
I walk out into the main room breakfast is just being served Leo sits with finnick and Annie in the same outfit as I am in, except for boys.
"Where's Lila?" I ask "I haven't seen her since last night." I put a fork full of eggs into my mouth. "Still sleeping." Annie says in between bites of sausage.
Just then Lila hobbles out of her room looking tired "I need coffee" she moans as she slumps down in her chair "someone's not a morning person." Leo taunts Lila narrows her eyes.
An avox girl pours Lila a cup of coffee.
Then races off.
"Training starts in 5" finnick says setting down his fork.
I stand.
Leo finnick and I leave the room and head down the hall. "The training room is on the 4th floor." He tells Leo and I
The door rattles open. I'm surprised to see Evelyn and her district partner, King I think is name was? Along with there mentor, Alice. She won the 80th hunger games.
We step in Evelyn and king wave happily at there capitol fans. Leo plays along and smiles from the elevator.
"I want sponsors." He says "I gotta make people like me."
10,9,8 I count as the elevator shoots down 7,6,5
4. The doors open.
There is a large room with 20 stations all the tributes are gathered around a tall woman, with Long wavy black hair.
"Within the next few weeks 23 of you will be dead." She snaps
Thanks for the confidence lady.
I think, "you will be trained in the art of survival, then be sent into an area where only 1 of you will leave alive. So let's not waist another minute of our time. get to it!" She turns and nods to the games makers then leaves through a small door by the knife throughing section.
I realize I'm the only tribute who hasn't chosen a station yet. The gamemakers stare down on me. I want to see where that lady whet, so without a minutes thought I head to the knife throwing station.
Slider and his district partner throw knives at the 3 dummies. I chose a knife. It's bent tip makes it look like a carving knife "gonna gut a fish?" The district 2 girl jokes.
I whip the knife at the dummy, I miss by a mile.
Slider and the girl start to laugh "I'm Anastasia the girl says. I pick up an another knife and let it fly, this time I hit the dummy in the shoulder.
Anastasia grunts.
I spot a trident in the corner of the room. I run over to it and come back to the knife throwing station.
The tridents Cold metal merges with my hand.
I throw the trident and it skewers the dummy through the heart, or where the heart would be if it was a person.
Anastasia stares in dis belief.
Slider walks up to my so his eyes are inches from mine. "Listen." He snaps "you just proved yours self to be the competition, and in that arena the competition dies first." He turns and walks off with Anastasia fallowing close behind.
I see Evelyn at the, knot tying station.
I decided to see what's she's doing, she could be an ally, right?
As I walk closer to knot tying station I noticed that Evelyn is struggling with a certain knot. "Loop it around your index finger" i instruct "I don't need help from you" Evelyn snaps she try's it anyway and knot Forms.
I sit by her "look" I say "I hate you and I'm pretty sure you hate me but I can teach you a few things if you like" I point to the knot she tied.
"Alright." She says slumping her shoulders.
I show her several different types on knots:
The bowline knot
The figure eight
And the double fisherman's knot (my specialty)
"Hi!" Someone squeals
Alexia hops over to us, she trips up on one of the ropes and falls on top of Evelyn "I hate you." Evelyn exclaims
Alexia looks hurt, "well" she says trying to untangle the rope from around her legs "I-" "here" I cut in. I reach for the ropes and pull a few of them out. She moves her feet and the ropes fall off. "Thanks." She mumbles looking away
She's embarrassed.
I can tell.
A loud whistle blows "that's all for today!" The lady with the black hair shouts. We file out of the training hall, everyone try's to cram in the elevator. I take the steps,
I come around the corner, finnick and Annie are making out on the stair well I can't help but stare for a wile "wow," I interrupt they quickly break apart and pretend nothing was happening "you 2 will do that anywhere!" I walk in-between them "continue on" I turn my back to them and walk up the rest of the starts "ok." I hear finnicks muffled voice say.
I grunt trying to hold back laugher I run the rest of the way up the stairs to floor 11.
When I arrive at the top I'm tired.
I've always hated stars but when you have to run up 6 flights of em, it hurts like hell.
Finally, I push through the door of our room I drag my self in and flop on the couch "how was training?" Lila asks "bla" Is my only response "is that a good bla or a bad bla?" Leo asks walking out from his room "bad bla." I moan.
He laughs "shut up." I say punching his shoulder "ow!" He reaches up to rub it.
"You have interviews later on tonight." Lila chirps in hopes of cheering me up.
"Never moving again." I complain "well you have to. At 4:00 were getting you both the the prep team the at 6 your meeting Nadia, and then at 7 the interviews start!" She informs
my legs pain, whatever.
Here in the capital were on a tight schedule there's no rest.
