Spencer's POV
"So you really still ain't talking to me because Liv's ducking your ass?" My brother Cane asks as I pack the last box.
"No, I'm not talking to you because you know what you did was messed up!" I tell him.
It's been a week and I still can't get Liv to answer my calls. And I'm way too embarrassed to show my face at her house.
By way of Jordan, I've sent flowers, teddy bears, jewelry, chocolate and other things that probably end up in her trash can. And all I've gotten in return is a box full of my old hoodies, jackets and hats that has accumulated in her room over time.
"Man, you're grown. I didn't force you to sleep with her."
"You knew who she was! At least you could've put a disclaimer out or something." I say seriously.
"How was I supposed to know out of thirty something teams, you would end up on the team of the owner whose wife you smashed?" My brother says with laughter.
"How many times do I have to tell you..."
"...Yeah, yeah! My fault. You don't remember what y'all did!" He mouths in air quotes. "You probably got some head in a comfortable bed. Life should really be that simple!"
"I'm not lying though," I tell him. "The air quotes ain't necessary."
He laughs. "Alright! I hear you. But if you think I'm about to feel sorry for an unmarried man that may or may not have fucked on a beautiful chick. Then you must not really know me."
"Shut up, man! Just shut up! I don't want to talk about it!" I tell him.
"I'll tell you what. I'll talk to Liv for you."
"Nah, that ain't going to work. She actually hates you for real. She just hates me temporarily."
We both laugh at my comment, knowing it's true.
"That girl loves me low key. If you wasn't all in the way, I'd make her my main thing." Cane tells me and I shake my head at his words.
He doesn't have the sense God gave him and sometimes that's okay. Other times, it's super annoying. Basically, I feel like I'm the older brother most days.
"Stay away from my girl, man!" I tell him and he laughs.
"Your ex girl. She ain't feeling you! Remember?"
I sigh as I think about Liv and I. It's not good. And I honestly don't see it getting better, if we can't just talk.
"I'll text you my new address from the car. I got to meet the movers there." I tell Cane before leaving.
"Bro, I'm going to make it right for you. I promise. Don't I always come through?"
Cane's words are the last thing I hear before shutting my car door and heading to my new condo.
On the way, I text my brother my new address, as promised, and call Liv for kicks and giggle, knowing she won't pick up.
"Hey Liv! It's me again. I really just want to talk to you. I've been thinking about you. Call me back, please!" I leave a message and hang up.
____________About thirty minutes later, I arrive to my mew spot. The view of the city makes up for some of the emptiness I feel inside.
"Mom, I wish you were here!" I say to the picture on my chain. "You would've loved it here."
"I'm sure she would."
I hear a voice and turn quickly to see Savvy standing in my living room.
