"Give it back or I swear to God, you won't live through the night!"

I just smirk and toss the pillow to Brian, who holds it above his head out of Hope's reach.

"So," I ask once he gives it back and she storms away. "When's your 'friend' gonna get here?"

He rolls his eyes but I see a hint of pink on his cheeks. "First of all, he's very much straight. Second, he said he wouldn't be here till tomorrow morning at the earliest so be patient for once in your life."

I snort. "You've known me, what, 3 years? I could have been a perfectly patient and kind child."

He raises an eyebrow at me.

"Yeah, not buyin' it."

"Well shit there goes my master plan to lull you into a false sense of security." I say sarcastically.

Something you should know befor you continue, Brian isn't the type to act all femme and diva-y. Well, not with people at least. He just likes guys and that's about it. Everyone knows he's gay but if you didn't know, you wouldn't till someone told you.

He rolls his soft blue eyes and heads over to where Hope is setting up our tent.

I follow him and within a few minutes we have three decent sized tents set up, each with an air mattress and enough clothes to last the week inside.

One for me and Hope, one for Brian and one for his friend, because apparently the idiot can't bring and set up his own damn tent.

We got to the stop we'd reserved about an hour ago, and dusk is already falling.

After I managed to convince Hope to stay up another hour for a bonfire, Brian surprised both of us by pulling out a s'mores kit and some prongs.

I have to admit, it's the most fun I've had in a while.

It's about midnight now and me and Hope are lying on the mattress, which we made sure to blow up more than we needed to so we could sleep normally.

I glance at my watch.

12:00

"Happy birthday." I whisper, rubbing the back of her hand.

She rests her head on my shoulder, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

"Thank you, Amia." She murmurs, kissing my cheek and readjusting the pillows so we're lying down.

I nod and after a while feel myself drift off to sleep, my usual insomnia nowhere to be found.
