*Teru's POV*
Dazai and I had made our way to an abandoned warehouse where Dazai had a large cake and other foods set up on a big table. "That should just about do it..." He said softly as he paced around the table "I can't wait...Imagine how happy that punks going to be when he finds out he's getting such a grand party. All this hoopla in honor of his newfound freedom from the sheep." "Please tell me this isn't just for show and we actually get to eat some of this because...I'm so hungry!!" I said and clutched my growling stomach and glared at the cake that seemed to taunt me. "Dazai...you said you've finally discovered who was responsible for Arahabaki...is that really true or were you lying so you could torment Chuuya?" Rondo asked monotonously "It wasn't exactly...what's the word I'm looking for? Difficult." I responded snidely as I snagged a strawberry and stuffed it in my mouth.
"I'm afraid both things are true. I said what I did in front of him so he'd be interested in taking on the bet but we do happen to know who it was." Dazai said causing Rondo to look at him with a hopeful look on his face. "Really...who was it then?" He asked "It's you, Rondo." Dazai and I answered in perfect unison. "You impersonated the former boss and spread rumors about Arahabaki...do you have anything to say?" Dazai asked while I continued to nibble on strawberries. "How did you come up with that?" "you made a mistake. A very basic mistake." "What mistake would that be?" I rolled my eyes and slowly turned to glare at the coat wearing man. "The sea...when you were talking earlier you said you saw Arahabaki in the black flames..." Dazai answered. "Oh...yes I did say that...because that's what I saw after it happened." "Yeah...That's what you saw eight years ago when the ocean was still visible from where Suribachi is...so uh...you can end the charade." I said, getting progressively more annoyed with him playing dumb.
"You had a bet with Chuuya about who could settle this first, right? Do you think you've won because you figured it out first?" Rondo inquired before a scream was heard in the distance and got progressively louder until Chuuya burst through the window, crashing into Rondo, knocking him down to the bottom floor of the warehouse. "I'm the one who won to that suicidal maniac. This is all your doing, Rondo...you can't fool me. You've been lying this whole time." "Okay, stooop!" Dazai chimed as we descended the stairs. "Why you...what the hell you two?!" "Dazai already made the announcement that he won. He was still in the middle of explaining when you jumped Rondo." "In the middle of explaining? Then you weren't finished...that means I'm the winner."
"There's no way you figured it out first but I'll let you explain your version of the riddle. How did you conclude that Rondo was behind it?" Dazai asked "What is there to conclude? Anyone could have figured it out from what he said. Every single person in the reports has stated they saw the former boss and then this guy comes along and says he saw Arahabaki itself." Chuuya explained and turned to look in Rondo's direction. "So basically you're saying there's no such thing as gods then? That's how you solved the riddle?" Rondo questioned. "No, it's the opposite. I figured it out because gods do exist. I'm sure of it." Chuuya answered "So you're confident that Arahabaki exists, huh?"
"Yeah...you saw it too didn't you, eight years ago? There's no way you could possibly give such a precise account of it otherwise, right?" Rondo rose to his feet before speaking again. "Chuuya, do you know where Arahabaki is at this very moment?" He asked "Tell me, boy!" "If you know, you should tell him. Rondo is going to be executed for endangering the Port Mafia so there's no harm in letting him know." Dazai encouraged "Damnit, what is up with you guys...why does everyone wanna meet that thing?! It's not like it has the power to revive the dead or something...That thing doesn't even have a personality or a mind of its own. It's like a typhoon or an earthquake."
" Where is this thing beyond human comprehension? This thing that burned me alive?" Rondo asked after giving a dramatic description of Arahabaki. "I'll tell you if you really wanna know..." Chuuya said and walked up Rondo "Arahabaki...is me." He declared and paused momentarily before continuing "I only have memories of one part of my life. Unlike you, I didn't lose my memories from trauma...My life only really started eight years ago but before that everything was just...darkness." Chuuya recounted "Somewhere in that darkness, I was floating aimlessly. Eventually, someone's hand broke through the outer edges of that barrier and dragged me into the outside world. That hand was yours, wasn't it?" Rondo smiled down at Chuuya creepily but otherwise remained silent. "Where did you find me? To find the answer I decided to follow this case, now...tell me everything you know..."
