A/n: Eldrin is very young; a 8 year old Elfling

It was a beautiful morning in the woods, and in the extensive gardens around Ellyn's royal residence.
There was a warm breeze in the air and the scent of pine and sweet-scented flowers filled the air. Butterflies and flitted here and there, and drone of bees could be heard in the flower beds. It was a day when everyone craved to be out in the warm sunshine. Everyone except Eldrin Evindalion.

Eldrin had not slept well that night, and woke up in a very bad mood.
He and his father had had a disagreement the night before, and he did not want to get out of bed and face his Adar, or anyone else for that matter.
He did not even feel like getting out of bed to do things that he knew he would have to do; such as his chores, studying and homework, none of which sounding applying today.
The young Elfling got out of the bed to open the curtains, then changed his mind and plopped back down on the bed.
He put his arms around his head and stared at the ceiling, sighing and pouting.
He just knew this was going to be a bad day; and he was still upset with his father.
He didn't feel himself lucky that his 4 year old half sister was away with his mother Elanor.
His real mother had died when he was born.

He was angry. And what made it even worse was the fact that his only Nana was not even there; she was away in The South elves Kingdom with his little sister, visiting his grandparents and the rest of her family; so she could not even be there to be in the intermediary between his father and himself. She never took sides, but always made him feel better and calmed Adar down, so he wouldn't be so angry.
Well, sometimes she took his side. He loved his mother so much and was really missing her and his sister even though they had only been gone for a few days. He really wished she was here now, to protect him from his father's anger.

Eldrin took much to heart. He was a very sensitive child, and his father had been very upset with him and yelled at him. His Adar seldom got that angry with him and Eldrin was concerned about what was going to come of that. That made him feel very uneasy.

Just then, a maid knocked on the door. "Eldrin?,"She called. She received no answer, "Are you alright, Eldrin?," Again he did not reply, so she quietly walked into his room and shut the door. "What is wrong, my dear?," She asked him sweetly.
"Nothing," He quietly mumbled, not taking his eyes off the ceiling..
"Are you planning on getting up, today? It is so beautiful outside,"She stated happily as she walked to the other side of the room, opening the curtains. Then she turned to the youngster, still in bed, "We should also let some fresh air in here, do you not think, Eldrin? It is stuffy in this room. Or perhaps I should not. Do you feel alright; are you ill?," She asked him.

The longer she was there, the more irritated Eldrin became. "No, go away and leave me alone!,"He yelled at her.
Now she was concerned about him. "Is there anything I can do to help you, my dear?,"She sweetly asked him again. "
"No!," He screamed at her. "Go away!" he yelled as he threw his pillow and the toys on the chair by his bed at her, almost knocking her down.
She just stood there, mouth agape. This wasn't like her sweet little Eldrin. She could not figure out what was wrong.
"Would you like your breakfast here today in your room, Eldrin?,"She asked, "I would be more than happy to get it for you. Then perhaps we could have a talk," Then in a quiet, endearing voice she asked him, "What happened, Eldrin, to put you into this mood?,"
"I don't want breakfast in bed!, I don't want it at all!,"Eldrin answered harshly, ignoring her questions.
"Alright, my dear,"She replied gently, "If you wish to talk to someone besides your Adar And Naneth, you know where to find me," And she left the young Elfling's chambers and closed the door behind her.

Eldrin felt bad now because of how he had treated his friend. She had just been trying to help him. She had known him his entire life. She had always been there for him. And this was how he was repaying her. They usually had very kind conversations when she cleaned his room. He really cared about her and she had always been there for him. He had known her his entire life.
He looked sadly at his toys on the floor by the door. The longer he thought about the way he had yelled at her, and had actually thrown those toys at her, the worse he felt... He knew he had hurt her feelings and now wished he had not but he did not know what to do about it right now.
He knew he should go and apologize to her, but that would be very awkward and embarrassing to him and he did not think he could do it at the moment. So, he decided to deal with it at a later time.

A short while later, he heard familiar footsteps quickly coming down the corridor. He knew it was his Adar, and when he walked like that, it usually meant he was angry about something. Eldrin was afraid that it was him his father was directing his anger at. He wondered if he was still angry from the day before.

The king knocked twice on the door. "Eldrin,"He called in a loud booming voice. "Either answers me or I am coming in." He got no reply, so he pushed against the door to gain entrance. Then he looked down at the toys that had hindered his a admittance and closed it behind him. He had a very serious look on his face which Eldrin could not quite read, but made him very nervous nonetheless.

Evindal looked angrily at the toys by the door. "Eldrin!, I just had a visit with Meril about you." And we need to have a very serious talk, ion nin, about your behavior..."Evindal explained angrily, "You're going to apologise to her!," And Eldrin nodded slightly, "Yes, Ada. I was going to... but I feel so bad right now," And  Evindal looked at his son angrily, "Now!,"
And Eldrin swallowed, "She hates me, doesn't she?," And Evindal sighed, "She does not hate you, Ion nín. But you don't behave to the elders like this," And Eldrin swallowed and Evindal left the room.

After Eldrin put on his clothes, he slowly walked down to the kitchen.
Meril who was baking smiled at the little Elfling. "Good morning, Eldrin. Do you feel better now?," And Eldrin nodded slowly, "I'm sorry. For how I acted," And Meril smiled, "It's alright, dear. Are you hungry?," And Eldrin nodded. "Do you want to help me with the biscuits and then we fix a delicious breakfast for you. How does that sound?," And Eldrin smiled and nodded.
Evindal who had snuck down into the kitchen smiled proudly at his son who stood with Meril. If only Leandra could see him now.
Eldrin swallowed when he saw his father, "Adar, I'm sorry," And Evindal picked up his son into his arms, "It's alright, Eldrin. But sometimes Ada must tell you when you do things wrong. It's my job as a parent to raise you into being a fine, kind, gentle warrior and Prince. And maybe one day, King," And Eldrin smiled and hugged his father tightly. "Shall we surprise, mother and your sister with a banquet when they comes home?," And Eldrin smiled and nodded, "Yes, adar," And Evindal hugged his son tightly, "I can never be angry for long with you, my little leaf. I love you so much," And Eldrin smiled, "I love you too, Ada!," And Meril smiled kindly at the father and son.
