Waking Up Part 1

Wei Wuxian

I woke up to someone shaking me; When I opened my eyes, I saw Jiang Cheng. When he saw I was awake, he stopped; I sat up and looked around the room; It was my old room.

I looked outside to see it was 7 am. The others should be waking up at the moment. I looked at Jiang Cheng and asked,

"Why did you wake me up?"

I had a few ideas but wasn't sure. Jiang Cheng answered,

"I want to get A-Ling and the others. But we can't leave without saying anything to my parents and I don't know if I can face them without you."

I was right so I nodded, got to my wardrobe, and got dressed.

When we got to the dining room, everyone was already there. Jiang Cheng and I looked at each other before sitting down. Breakfast was silent. Madam Yu, uncle Jiang, and shijie looked at us with surprise and worry. When we were done eating, Jiang Cheng said,

"Wei Wuxian and I would like to go hunt on the mountain we normally night hunt. If that is fine, of course."

When he said the last part, his eyes looked to Madam Yu. Before she could say anything uncle, Jiang answered,

"Sure, but be careful."

As he said the last part, he looked towards Wei Wuxian. Madam Yu was trying to say something. But we had already bowed to our sect leader and were leaving. Jiang Cheng saying,

"We will be back before dinner."

And then we were gone, Jiang Yanli looking at our backs worriedly.

When they were almost at the cave, Jiang Cheng broke down. I was not far behind. It took us 15 minutes to compose ourselves. We entered the cave around eight am Sizhui, Rulan, Zizhen, and Jingyi were already up. We sat around and talked for a bit. At ten am, we decided to go hunt.

Four hours later

We decided to show the juniors Lotus pier. After grabbing something to eat. From the money we gave Sizhui. We walked around for two hours and then decided that it was time to let the juniors meet uncle Jiang.

When We got back, everyone heard arguing. It was coming from the dining hall. The persons who were shouting were Madam Yu and uncle Jiang. Both Jiang Cheng and I rolled our eyes. When we arrived, they didn't notice us at first. So I asked Sizhui,

"Do you have a flute?"

Sizhui nodded and gave me a bamboo flute. I started playing a tune that could describe their arguing.

Shijie came in a bit later and turned startled to me. Before she could say anything, the arguing duo noticed someone playing and quietened down. They turned to us. I finished playing and hung the flute to my belt. I said,

"Are you done arguing over me? Yes, then Jiang Cheng and I can introduce you to our new friends."

At that, they seemed to notice the other four. Sizhui stepped forward, bowed, and said,

"I am Wei Yuan, courtesy name Sizhui. It is nice to meet you. My father told me where I could find a cousin of mine before he died."

Then Rulan bowed and said,

"My name is Wei Ling, courtesy name Rulan. I met Sizhui on a night hunt and found out we were cousins. I followed him when I heard I had another cousin."

Jingyi bowed and said,

"My name is Ouyang Jingyi. I met Sizhui and Rulan on a night hunt. Now we night hunt together."

Zizhen bowed as last and said,

"My name is Ouyang Zizhen. I am Jingyi's brother. It is nice to meet you."

Uncle Jiang said,

"If I am right, Sizhui and Rulan came to find A-Xian, and the two of you tagged along?"

The four nodded, and uncle Jiang continued,

"I presume you want to stay. But I do have a question for Rulan, won't your parents miss you?"

At that, Rulan looked uncomfortable,

"I am an orphan. My parents died when I was born. My uncle took care of me. He died last year."

Uncle Jiang nodded.

"I will prepare rooms for you."

Madam Yu cut in.

"Why should we let them stay? They are only going to cause trouble."

Before uncle Jiang could say anything. Jiang Cheng cut in,

"If you don't want them to be a problem, they can stay in my and Wei Wuxian's room, and if it is possible, they can come with us to study at cloud recesses. But they are not leaving!"

With that, he turned on his heel and left. Everyone was stunned. I was the first to go after him, the juniors following. We stayed in Jiang Cheng's room until shijie came and got us for dinner. It was silent. Uncle Jiang was thinking, shijie was looking between me, Jiang Cheng and the juniors, Madam Yu was glaring at me. After dinner, uncle Jiang said,

"I will ask if they can go to cloud recesses with you."

The six of us nodded. We decided to go outside to train before going to sleep at 10 pm.
