"Alright, take me to your kitchen! Your daughter's in for a fucking treat." Cook beams, standing in the Fitch doorway, carrying bags of scrumptious food. "Four courses, real fancy shit. Pesto. Salmon. Salad."
"Don't know which one you're talking about lad but all three are out anyhow" replies Rob.
"Oh, okay" Cook nods, a little disappointed. "What time's she back? Ayla, I mean."
"Oh, not till tomorrow. She's gone to some party at Gobblers End."
"Nah, but I've full like got a surprise banquet for her!" Cook nods frantically, holding up the bags of food with a look of confusion.
"Well, it was a surprise that she obviously wasn't ready for ay lad," Rob replies, leaning against the door frame. Cook scoffs and bites his lip in frustration.
"Why the fuck wasn't I invited?"
"I....I don't know lad" Rob gulps awkwardly, shrugging. "You could always come back in tomorrow or a few days or something"
"Don't matter. Fuck it," he says, handing over the bags of food to Rob. "Here ya go. There's a gateau in there too," he says, turning on his heel and lighting a cigarette, leaving Rob speechless and confused in the doorway with half a dozen bags of expensive food.

Ayla sits, squashed in the boot of Effy's car on the way to Gobblers End. She and Thomas had agreed to take the shittiest spots because they didn't want to hear anyone else complain.
It had been three days since Ayla's encounter with Cook and whilst she wasn't actively avoiding him, she cared little that he wasn't coming to Gobblers End. It gave her time to be with her friends without distractions and drama. Considering the incidents of last week, with the bashing at the club in particular, Ayla understood, although couldn't relate, to everyone's current distaste for Cook.
Katie, who was in charge of the music starts pumping some trash pop music, so Ayla retrieves her headphones and plays her own music through her phone. It also helped her block out Katie's continual complaining. Closing her eyes and leaning against the side of the car she pictures Cook's bleeding temples and sweaty upper lip from the other night. After only a few moments of peace she feels someone tap her shoulder gently. She opens her eyes a little to see Freddie leaning over the back seat looking at her.
"What's up?" he asks. It wasn't like Ayla to be so antisocial.
"The music is shit and..." she begins before Katie starts yelling at Freddie.
"Freddie, don't you dare fucking talk to Ayla"
"Katie won't stop yelling." Ayla finishes, her point being well-proven. She sighs and puts her headphones back in, slouching back against the side of the car. She looks across to Thomas, who seemed unusually grim, so Ayla tapped his leg and slid her hand out to hold his, much to his delight.

After 20 minutes or so of going around and around in circles, with everyone taking turns to yell shitty directions to Effy, they stopped at a dingy looking service station. Katie swings open the passenger door, scrunching up the map and tossing it in the bin.
"Stupid piece of crap. We're just gonna have to ask someone for directions." she sighs as Freddie gets out of the car too.
"Who?" Freddie scoffs, seemingly a little pissed. Fortunately, a few seconds later a group of older lads pull up in a ute. Katie approaches them in search of directions, making Ayla roll her eyes.
"Oh for fuck sakes Katie don't approach them they look as sketchy as anything" she sighs under her breath, watching from the boot of the car.
"Excuse me, gentlemen, could you tell me how to get to Gobblers End, please?" Katie asks in a high pitched voice, batting her lashes to them. They agree to help them and get out of the car, chuckling a little.
"Something's up," says JJ, looking at them through the window intently. Ayla nods in agreement and glances over to Katie who walks towards the station to pay for gas.
"Right. Gobblers Knob." says one of the guys to Freddie, grabbing their map from the bin, un-scrunching it and spreading it out across the hood of Effy's car. Ayla watches as one of the other guys walks towards the gas station and after Katie. Having an idea of what was going to happen, she opens the boot and slips out after him, nobody saying a word. She marches over to the service station, getting faster by the second as she watches the guy begin harassing Katie. She flings open the door. The man is holding onto Katie's arm harshly and standing near the doorway, stopping her from leaving.
"Well, well, well. Then there were two" he chuckles, glancing behind him at Ayla. He lets go of Katie's arm and pivots to face Ayla.
"You don't wanna fucking do there"
"Oh yeah?" he scoffs, putting his hands on his hips and moving even closer to her.
"Oh yeah," she assures him.
"I wouldn't be a bitch if I was you lovely. My man out there has a mighty fun gun on him" he continues, nodding outside with a smile on his face. Ayla looks and sure enough, the guy who was just giving Freddie directions is showing off a massive gun to the group.
"Okay," Ayla scoffs, turning back around to him. "Just let her past" she continues bluntly, nodding to Katie. After a moment's hesitation, he stands back and Katie inches past him daintily. Ayla pushes open the door, sustaining her glare until the door slams shut behind them and her and Katie walk back toward the car. Freddie stands awkwardly beside it, twiddling his thumbs with worry.
"Are you okay?" he asks
"Yep. Great help you were Freddie" replies Ayla without looking at him, opening the boot and scooting back into the car. Inside the car everyone is talking frantically about how big the guys gun was as Effy starts up the car and they slowly drive away.
"Beware the moon" the group of men snicker outside.
"Fucking wankers" Ayla says softly before Katie begins blurting out to everyone how one of the guys had just harassed her.
"I just went to pay for gas and then all of a sudden I heard the door open behind me and there he was, standing with his hands on his hips and..." Katie begins before Ayla cuts her off, having caught a glimpse of an unfortunately familiar vehicle following them
"Eff!" she begins, turning around to the front, everyone looking back at her. "It's them" she gulps, referring to the car behind them which was speeding up rapidly.
All at once everyone started freaking out, talking frantically over each other as the car behind them revved louder, growing closer and eventually pulling up into the lane beside them, beeping and gesturing for Effy to stop the car. Effy was going well at maintaining her composure, especially in comparison to everyone else, but even she began panting as the guy in the passenger seat pulled his gun on them.
"EFFY" everyone yells frantically. "Stop the fucking car".
After a few seconds of hesitation and being screamed at, Effy stops the car, everyone panting. The other car stops about 20 metres in front of them, nobody moving, just waiting in anticipation. After a few moments the guy who had held the gun at them flicks a cigarette butt out the window before the car reverses back past them and turns around, driving off in the opposite direction.
"Are they gone?" Effy asks after a few seconds of silence, everyone processing what had just happened.
"Yeah, they're gone now. We're safe." Freddie sighs, clutching onto the roof handle. "As long as we beware the moon obviously," he finishes with a slight smirk on his face. After a few seconds of silence everyone breaks out into a light chuckle, except Katie of course.
"Why are you laughing? It's not fucking funny!" yells Katie, turning around to look at all of them. Ayla rests her arms across the back seat and watches as Freddie and Effy catch each other smile through the rearview mirror.
