"Yea come in" calls a familiar voice from behind the door. Ayla opens the door hesitantly, her face turning scarlet, unsure if this was a genius idea or an idiotic one. Cook looks up from the joint he was rolling and stares at her for an awkwardly long and silent amount of time. Cook's room at the College Campus brought back a lot of memories for Ayla as it was once Chris' room.

"Hi" Ayla smiles awkwardly closing the door behind her. Cook doesn't say anything, peeling his eyes away from her and continuing to roll his joint. "Can you stop the pettiness please?". At this, Cooks eyes shot up to her and he laughs, showing off his wildly crooked teeth.

"Me Petty? Please babe please" he chuckles, lighting his joint and smacking his lips around it. "You said you didn't fuck randoms and then you went and fucked my best mate.... but I'm fine with that now" He adds, noticing himself how truly petty he is. Ayla moves over to the window and looks down to the College Green below, scattered with cigarette butts and littered with empty cans of Irn Bru.

"Can't you just respect that I didn't want to have sex with you" she sighs, really sick of this bullshit. Cook looks up from his joint and nods at her after some hesitation. "Anyway" Ayla turns on her heel and plops herself down on the bed next to him "You fucked Effy, Panda AND Naomi?" she chuckles jokingly making his expression soften.

"No no, not Naomi. Tried but she's too bent" he grins, lighting up the joint. "My cock is just too big for her, she couldn't cope with it. But what did you expect, you turned me down so I had to find other girls". Ayla tries not to laugh at his adolescent behaviour but can't help herself. "Freddie told me you didn't like me so I went down another path" Cook grins, seemingly over the whole issue.

Of course Freddie said that.

"Can we please just forget about this bullshit?" asks Ayla, looking at Cook intently. He nods and holds out his hand for her to shake it.

"Well, how was that?" asks Naomi as Ayla reaches the bottom of the stairs. Ayla's eyes dart past her, ignoring her completely, as she walks across the Green toward the bus stop. Naomi hesitates before walking after her. "I came here to talk to you. Emily said you would be here".

"What do you want?" Ayla asks, increasing her pace as Naomi follows her.

"Please don't tell Emily about me and Cook" At this Ayla stops abruptly and turns around, scoffing with amusement. "Please. We didn't fuck, we just kissed but I really don't want her to know" Ayla furrows her brow. "Please" Naomi repeats.

"Stop with the bullshit Naomi."

"What?"

"Stop pretending you're not gay! Stop pretending you don't like her. Yeah, to hear about you and Cook would tear her to shreds but you've already hurt her more than that ever could. Yeah, I'm not gonna fucking tell her but don't think that's for you, its for her because she's hurt enough as it is"

Ayla stands at the side of the house smoking a cigarette and listening to the neighbours arguing next door about the water bill. She hums the song Cook sang on the boat to Kayleigh and leans against the cool double brick exterior of her house. The doorbell rings and she pokes her head around the side of the house to see Naomi standing on the front porch.

"It's probably for me" yells Katie from inside, storming down the stairs. She peaks through the glass door and turns her nose up to find its Naomi. "Ehh... okay it's for you Ems" she yells back up the stairs. A few moments later Ayla hears Emily speak softly from the other side of the door.

"I'm not gonna open the door. My face is all puffy. I've been... crying a bit."

"I don't care," Naomi says sitting down next to the door on the ice cold concrete. "I do want someone. Need someone. You're right."

"And?" asks Emily

"And... when I'm with you, I feel like I'm a better person. I feel happier. Less... alone." Naomi's voice flutters as tears swell in her eyes. "Less lonely." Ayla watches as Emily slides her hand through the cat flap. "But it's not as simple as that, is it? Being with someone."

"Isn't it?" asks Emily

"No. I mean, I don't know. I mean, I don't think so. " Naomi stutters, crying a little harder. "Can't we just sit like this... for a bit?"

"Yeah. We can. For a bit." replies Emily as they interlace their fingers together.

Ayla scrunches her cigarette butt into the concrete with her heel and walks around to the back of the house.
