Hey guys, sorry I didn't get to post last week. My life's been a cluttered catastrophe of state testing and teachers overdosing the homework to fill in for missed class time. It's been an absolute nightmare. Plus, Battle of the Books is like next week and I still am cramming three and a half books in that limited period of time. Busy, busy, busy. But I'm so EXCITED! Ahem sorry, my life is crazy right now but, hey, so is my personality. Hope you enjoy the newest addition to my bri'lil'iant fan fiction! Merci beaucoup (that's French for thank you sooooo much =P)
P.S.There's gonna be a bunch of French so get a translator, or just use them ole fashioned context clues.
====================
I break down in a storm of giggles as the door clicks shut behind us, enclosing Artemis and me in an empty hospital room. He managed to contain his awe in the hallway, but lets it flood out now. His expression is priceless.
"What?" I choke, laughing.
He shakes his head, "You, Miss Tate, never cease to astonish me."
I roll my eyes, "I only met you less than twelve hours ago."
"On the contrary," he says, cocking his eyebrow, "We known each other for twelve years."
I groan, in exaggerated exasperation, "Ughh, technicalities."
He smiles slightly, "You know, you are absolutely stunning, "he says lightly, seeming distracted."
I snort, "Yeah right. Definitely not."
He sweeps me into his embrace awkwardly, I snuggle into his scrawny chest, "You are, Miss Tate. Très belle."
"Non, Artemis, je ne suis pas belle," I respond , thinking Mlle would be proud of me for my French.
Instead of answering, he wraps his arms around my slim torso and I nuzzle his neck. Artemis Fowl's lips meet mine gently, his palms caressing my body, sending jolts of electricity streaming through my veins. My lips part slightly, gasping as his body insistently presses against mine, and I pull back to catch my breath. Panting, I lean into him, wrapping my arms around his shoulders.
"You really like fast paced relationships, huh, Arty?" I tease.
He shakes his head, ever serious, "I'm...I'm not myself around you... Something just knocks me out of balance. I am not familiar with these...feelings."
I shrug, "Well, I've only ever had two boyfriends in my life. One in second grade, so I guess that doesn't count."
"I---"
I put my index finger to his lips, and whisper, "Let's change the subject to something kinda different. I've asked all my boyfriends this; Why do you like me? Especially you, a mature, calm, collected genius. I'm an exceptionally immature fourteen year old who is hyper and happy and extremely weird. What woud someone like you see in a idiot like me?"
He just shakes his head again.
"Really? You don't know? What a Conrasts and Contradictions sign post. Now, how do I know you aren't just taking advantage of me?"
His face reddens, "I...I would never..." he stutters.
"Relax. I was kidding. Uhh, I like you because I guess, I have a thing for genises."
"Genii," he corrects.
I punch him playfully, "Whatever."
"Well, like any proper gentleman should, it would be my pleasure to invite you to dine at Fowl Manor with me tonight."
"It would be my pleasure to accept...except my parents are probably worried sick. I was s'posed to be home at five and it's six thirty."
"We dealt with that with a dash of mesmer."
"Then...okay. When do we leave?"
"Now would be quite sufficient."
I nod, "Agreed."
He offers me his arm and I grasp it, gazing longingly into his deep, beautiful blue eyes. How is it that I, Emerald Tate, an overall pretty average girl, get tangled up in a mess with a fictional character I just so happen to have feelings for, and apparently he has some feelings for me? Seriously, man, seriously. We drift out the door, my skin tingling where it touches his.The shuttle ride to Ireland is as uneventful as ever. Arty got his series downloaded on his phone so it was funny to watch his expressions as he read it. The shuttle itself was like the inside of an airplane except, ya' know, this is below ground instead of above.
Arty scoffs in the seat next to me, "Perfectly fine! I was so naive."
I pat his elbow, "Don't worry, Arty, we all have our moments. One time I spent like twenty minutes arguing with my friend whether or not 100 was an even number."
He laughs, "Is it?"
"No. Of course not."
Holly pops her head out of the cockpit, "Hate to interrupt your flirting sessions, but ten minutes till we're at Tara."
"Very well, "Arty says, switching off his phone.
Holly smirks, "I'll leave you two alone..."
I grin and say lightly, "Kay. See ya' in ten!"
Once the door closes, Artemis shakes his head at me.
"What?" I whine.
He just shakes his head a takes my hand, pressing it to his lips that feel like soft silk against my skin. He lifts his head and slowly tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear. My body is filled with a warm...fuzzy kinda feeling inside when he touches me, a feeling I wonder how I ever managed to live without. I stare into his captivating sapphire eyes, bluer than the sky, deeper than the sea yet lighter than the clouds. Blue, bleu, azul, blu, whether in English or a romance language, his eyes are the bluest blue I've ever seen. And they are absolutely astonishing.
His lips collide with mine, our hearts pounding in unison, thumping against our chests as if they have to break through and be as one. His hands travel up my body, tracing my slight curves and exploring my shape. My own hands grasp his tie tightly, locking him against me. Our eyes meet, as our lips part and I melt into his embrace. He holds me, my cheek pressed against his pounding heart, our entwined bodies swaying gently. His thumb caressed my other cheek in circles, tracing my cheekbone. I bury my face in his suit, submerging myself in him. He smells faintly of old books and mint. Hmm, I just so happen to love the smell of old books. And mint. Coincidence? I think not. I breathe him in, needing to be close to him. Needing him, in general.
Reluctantly, I pull away and gently peck him on the cheek. He tucks another loose lock behind my ear and smiles at me. I smile back, tugging us back to the gel-padded seats.
"Astonishing..." he murmurs in my ear.
I roll my eyes, "Yeah, right."
