Hey guys! I love writing this! Here comes the really upsetting chapter. The one that makes you scream and throw pillows at the walls. Sorry, but the story needed it. But don't worry, there will be a happy chapter that makes you squeal in happiness and prance around you room, hugging your giant unicorn pillow in joy. Wait. What? Am I the only one who does that? Ah poop sack, that's embarassing. Anywhoo...I had one of those dreams where you wake up and know it's a bri'lil'iant story idea. So um I'm gonna start a new story called Shades of the Shadow. It isn't a fanfic. It's completely original. I would love it so much if you guys could read it. Kay, I'm babbling. Sorry. Artemis Fan Fiction. Now.

==========

Emerald emerges from the room in which Sabriel is imprisoned. She strides toward where I sit, anger and emotional strain scribbled across her tight expression. I reach out and take her hand.

She jerks back, as if I had stung her, and she slaps my face so hard, black dots dance at the edges of my vision. "How dare you," she growls, glaring at me, "And I thought Sabriel was evil."

Her words sting. What is she angry about? "Darling, wh---what are you talking about?"

She snorts, "Like you don't know. I honestly don't know how I didn't see it."

"Emerald, I don't know---"

She laughs bitterly, "Stop acting, Artemis. I know you were just using me. You don't have to retend you care about me."

"Pretend?" I snort, my anger brewing, "You think I'm pretending?"

"Yeah!" she yells, "Obviously! Our relationship never felt real but I just assumed it was because it was all I'd dreamed off. Coincidence? No, it was you, using the fact that my dream was for you to be my true love to your advantage. That dream was too unrealistic. I was blind. You used my love, bastard. And gave me my first heartbreak. Break seems an understatement. More like shattered beyond repair. All thanks to you, Master Fowl!" tears stream down her face, "You may not have meant it when you told me you loved me, but I meant it. But apparently the boy I love was a disguise to the disgusting, evil creature beneath. A creature who manipulates innocent teenage girls' hearts for his purposes. A...I don't even have a word for how evil, how heartless you are. You had better stay outta the rest of my life, or I swear to God, there will be major hell to pay!"

"You know none of that is true! Sabriel manipulated you!" I yell back.

She snarls, "No! You're just trying to cover your butt because you're too much of a coward to admit fault!"

"No I'm not!" I bellow.

"Yes you are!"

"Do you hear yourself? You sound like a child!"

Her face reddens, "Maybe that's because I am a child. Another thing you took advantage of!"

"I did not take advantage of you!"

She shoves me against the wall, "Yes you did!"

I wince at the pain blooming in my shoulder, "How dare you suspect me of such a terrible thing!"

"What, Fowl? I should've known. You've always avoided the truth. I thought you were different but I was obviously mistaken!"

I scowl at her, "You---"

"I what? I have a finger for people like you, Fowl. The middle one. See?" She shoves her finger in my face.

I swat it away, "No, I don't see! What bizarre evidence gave you this outlandish notion?"

" Don't try me with you big words. I won't fall for it!"

"Emerald, you are so thick! I love you! Sabriel is a liar! I love you, period! I have never been so sure about somethingin my life!"

"And why should I take your word for it?"

"Why would you take Sabriel's? He's a lying villian who knows how to manipulate!"

"And so are you!" she screams.

I stare at her. She thinks I'm as demented as Sabriel. She hates me. My anger disintegrates to sorrow. Tears stream down my face, "Emerald, please."

She puts her faces inches from mine, "You, Artemis Fowl, were my first kiss. I saved the world for you. But that was fake. Like I said, leave me alone or there will be so much fricking hell to pay, you'll be in debt for all eternity. Good bye, bastard."

She pulls back and stalks down the corridor, away from me.

Forever.
