David still could not believe how lucky he had been.

He had hesitated to return to the small screen after his miserable experience on "Monty", but somehow Martha and David had convinced him to give this a try.

He genuinely hat liked the two of them, and who would not be flattered to receive a wonderful script being told that they wrote one of the main characters with YOU in mind?

But not only was the script fantastic, when he came in for the first table read, there had been an instant chemistry.

Apart from Chandler, who had been hard to grasp for him, he had an image of each of his colleagues in mind, but seeing the group together just blew his mind.

After Matthews first words, Chandler suddenly came to life loud and clear. Matt could not be more Joey, and Lisa was just out of this world as Phoebe. When he looked at him and Courteney they not only looked like believable siblings, they instantly fell into a friendly banter that reminded him of so many experiences with his own sister.

And Jen. He had known, reading the script, that Rachel had to be a special one, but seeing her had really shook him to his core.

She was not only drop-dead gorgeous, she also had a charm that had lured him in immediately.

And oh, how flattered had he been when she told him that she had seen him on stage back in Chicago years ago and still remembered him to this day.

He had to admit, that part of the show, where he would shyly admire her, thinking she was totally out of his league but still, trying to be close to her, did not require much acting.

The first few episodes had been relatively much talk and character driven, so that the audience felt as a part of their little group and as if THEY were their friends.

From his point of view, at least for his character, this one today was a lot more challenging.

For him, it mostly consisted of scenes with Jen at the laundromat, which contained a lot of timed-out stuff and physical comedy, but also the first kiss between their characters.

It would not so much be a kiss as a friendly peck on the lips from Rachel to Ross, but still.

He felt about as excited as his character, which was a bit ridiculous.

It always amazed him, how easy things came with her. They already had formed a good instinct on how the other would move and how they would say their line, that it was easy to focus on delivering the lines and transfer the feeling. You did not have to worry about choreography and chemistry with her, as that just came naturally.

He had to admit, he would have loved this first kiss, if it was even to be considered as such, happening in a scene that was not so challenging for him in the aftermath, so that he really would have had the time to take it in for himself.

Who was he kidding, he was on the verge of falling head over heels in love with her already. He knew that this was not the most professional thing to do, especially since he had a feeling that this series could be his breakout roll, but you could not really do anything about that, right?

They had not talked about it, but if his emotional compass was not totally off, he would have said that she felt attracted to him, too.

There had been some glances, some brief touches on the forearm, that send bolts of lightning down his spine.

He was not sure what to make of this, and, if he was right about this, if it was a good idea to "go there".

Probably not, given the fact that this would be a huge thing for both of them.

They maneuvered through most of the scenes fine, only having to do a few takes.

They really were a great team.

And it turned out funny, the audience really enjoyed what they were doing there.

The next scene was the one that had him on edge: Jen as Rachel was supposed to fight the bitter lady they had argued with about the washing machine with for a laundry cart.

She was supposed to jump in, the lady was supposed to let go of the cart and stomp off, at which he was supposed to flip the cart with Jen in it around,  applauding her, before she would grab him and kiss him. That would cause an irritated Ross to turn around to walk off, hit his head on the door of the washer behind him and fall flat to the ground, Rachel fussing over him.

Jen managed the first part of the scene just fine, so it was his entrance now.

He walked up to his mark, grabbing the cart, doing a 180, spreading his arms in victory.

Check.

"Ladies and gentlemen, a brand new woman"

When he leant down to Jen again, she grabbed his neck.

Goosebumps. Electricity! Big time!

"Thank you so much, Ross, I couldn't do this without you"

Pulling him in and then...

...her lips on his.

It lasted only for the split of a second, but even if he was not surprised by the fact that she kissed him, the effect of that brief touch of lips did so all the more.

It was short and sweet and soft and gave him all the feels.

So he was just in the right state of irritation that was needed, recovering quickly enough to deliver the physical comedy part of the scene.

Fortunately, that worked just fine.

He remained lying on the ground for a second after hearing someone yelling "CUT!" trying to process what he had just felt.

When he opened his eyes, he saw Jen, who had jumped put of the cart to look out for him just as the script said.

She put her and on his chest, probably feeling his racing heartbeat, and when he looked in her eyes, he saw the same level of surprise and infatuation in hem that he himself had felt.

Wow.

Pamela, the director of the episode, came over, giving them some instructions for a second take of the scene he was barely able to process, but hoping he would manage to do it anyway.

And even if he did not, that meant that he would get to kiss her a third time.

"BAD IDEA to think like this if you  want to keep this job"

He really had to get his act together, for the love of god!

He got up from the ground to retreated himself for the second take.
