Francis POV
As Francis stood shivering on the empty platform, he felt a mysterious warmth cover his shoulder. He looked up and saw Hawthorne smiling down at him. Francis could feel his cheeks changing colour and didn't know what was happening. "Th-thanks for the jacket Hawthorne.""Anytime mate!!" Hawthorne replied grinning. Francis stared at Hawthorne with a weird feeling in his stomach. It's probably something I ate. Francis looked away and strolled over to the others.
"Hey Morrigan?" Francis looked at Hawthorne then back at Morrigan.
"Hey Francis, is there something you needed?" Morrigan put a hand on her hip and raised an eyebrow.
"Uh yeah. I get a weird feeling whenever I'm around Hawthorne and I don't understand it. So, do you think you can help.?"
Morrigan smirked. "Yeah I'd be able to help you with that Francis and don't worry, I won't tell Hawthorne."
"Thanks Morrigan! I knew I could count on you!!" A whistle stopped any further conversation and Unit 919 boarded Hometrain. Francis looked around, and instead of going to his normal seat, he took a seat next to Hawthorne. Morrigan was talking to Miss Cheery and every once in a while, whenever they thought Francis wasn't looking, would glance over at them briefly.
Hometrain was quieter than usual and it made Francis a bit nervous. Francis turned towards Hawthorne, who was looking out the window, and tapped him on the shoulder. Hawthorne slowly turned his head to look at Francis and what Francis saw shocked him. Hawthorne's eyes were...emotionless...like all the happiness has been drained out of him and won't be coming back any time soon.
"You ok Hawthorne? You look pretty...upset." Francis mummered, looking at the ground.
"I'm fine. Oh and did you know that your girlfriend is visiting Wonsoc today?" Hawthorne replied with ice in his voice. Francis was surprised that Hawthorne was speaking like this. Normally he's all happy and cheery. But right now, he's just sad and has this defeated aura hanging around him. It's weird and not right seeing him so like this. Francis thought about what he just said and his eyes widened. His girlfriend was coming to Wonsoc, the place where he is learning, and didn't even tell him?! It's probably a surprise for him.
"I'm happy I get to see her again. It's been a while since we hung out-" Francis didn't get to finish when the Hometrain stopped and he was tackled to the floor. He looked up, slightly alarmed, but grinned happily when he saw who tackled him. The person giggled and hopped off Francis's lap.
"Hey Francis!!" The energetic girl plopped down on one of the cushions and kissed Francis's cheek.
"Hey Stella! I can't believe you're here! I mean, it's just great that we can hang now!" Francis mumbled blushing bright red.
"I know right! It's amazing!! I'm so happy to finally meet your friends. Especially the one you keep talking about. His name was Hawthorne right?"
"Yep and he's right behind you too." Francis pointed behind Stella and she turned and her eyes widen.
"Aww, he's so cute! But not as cute as my baby Francis but he looks like a little bean!!" Stella squealed and turned back to squeeze Francis in a hug that would take your breath away. Both literally and metaphorically.
If looks could kill, both Francis and Stella would both be goners. Francis didn't notice anything unusual and kept talking to his girlfriend and introducing her to everyone.
Hawthorne growled and stormed off. Muttering to himself. "I'm going to get Francis one way or another."
