Pretentious couples.
SHE WAS HERE. In the store, in the same isle as me. I thought she would be just another pretty girl at school, but sitting next to her drew me in.
Pretty was the incorrect word to describe her. She was beauty itself. With her straight black hair that spilled on her shoulders. Her lips were plump, outlined with a dark brown and topped of with a clear gloss. Her dark skin was clear of any blemishes, smooth to the naked eye. Flawless.
She had a beauty mark that sat on top of her lip. To me, it just made her beauty like no other.
I figured that I looked like a weirdo if I stood there staring, so I went back to looking at the paint brushes I originally came here for.
"Excuse me," Her voice was soft and mellow, I turned my head thinking she was talking to me to find she was conversing with a worker. He had tanned skin and a man bun, about our age. I recognised him as Emmanuel Martinez; I knew him from the amount of times I came here for art supplies. Somehow, someway he always ended up scanning my purchases.
"Yes." He replied.
"Uh, do you have a frame for this sorta' size?"
"I'll see what I can get for you babe, but it would make my day if I got your number in my phone." He flirted, and I cringed feeling second hand embarassment.
"I don't think so-" she retorted.
"Come on pretty, what, you got a boyfriend?" He interrupted her, his consistent pursues making me alert.
"As a matter of a fact yes I do." That was what I assumed was a lie, the purpose being for him to back off. But Emmanuel continued to pursue her, not getting the memo.
Like take a fucking hint.
"Oh really, he don't let you have any guy friends? And what's his name I might know him, its a small world," He took a step forward, bursting her personal bubble.
She started fidgeting with her hands whilst switching the weight she put on each foot. Signs of her anxiousness.
"His name is uh...erm...his name is..." she stuttered.
"His name is Christian and she is free to have as many friends as she wants to be it boy or girl, but I am most certain your intention was not to have a platonic relationship with my girlfriend and that is where we draw the line. Emmanuel." I spoke, walking towards her.
When I reached her 5'7 stature, I put my hands on her shoulders and craned my neck to softly peck her cheek. The whole time I kept eye contact with Emmanuel: one, to make him go away and two, I was partially nervous of her reaction.
"Chris? Chris is your boyfriend? Come on, do better sweetheart. You need a man," He voiced arrogantly whilst licking his lips,"not a boy."
"We are the same age Emmanuel." I said.
