Thump.

Ignore.

Thump.

Ignore.

Thump.

Ignore.

Thump.

Agitation develops.

Thump.

Agitation reaches it's peak.

Thump.

And now I'm awake.

The sound, whatever the cause, was continuous and unstopping in it's course. With each thump there was a slight three second pause in between. Groaning, I sat up on my bed, gaze travelling to my alarm clock. It was 2 am in the morning. And I had the absolute privilege of being woken up by such an irritable sound.

The sun had barely even risen; the sky was a black dark abyss with a thousand specs of gold as stars.

My feet met the carpet, toes sunken in it's fuzz. With reluctance, I dragged my feet to the window.

Thump.

A rock? It was rocks that were ricocheting of my window this whole time?

Timing the next throw, I opened my window expecting to catch the pebbles being thrown. But instead my ears were graced with the melodic sound of music.

"I feel a little rush
I think I've got a little crush on you
I hope it's not too much
But boy when I'm with you I hear it
My heart is singing
La la la la la la...
La la la la la la..."

There he was, in all the nights glory, an actual boombox atop his head, singing along to the romantic lyrics.

He'd done it again; left me in a state of disbelief. I was truly speechless. A boombox? Outside my window? I felt like the teenage girl in a 90's romcom movie. Everything was so cliché, almost not real.

"What are you doing Chris?!" I yelled over the mellow music.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm serenading you!" He replied sending a boyish grin my way.

My laughter drowned in the waves of sound and in the depths of the night air. He was serenading me? I felt like a little girl experiencing a crush for the first time; giddy, overexcited, nervous, and happy.

Eventually the song ended changing to another love song. The volume was lowered insinuating he was going to speak to me.

"So Alaina Yalani Alexander," he began with the slightest of tremors in his voice, "I have disrupted your slumber-" I broke out into laughter at the eloquence of his voice, almost mimicking a Shakespearean character.
