𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐈𝐕𝐄: PUDDLES[ Saturday, February 18th ]
↳ The streets of QueensA week went by of awkward interactions and minimal communication between Peter and Lola. They worked together in lab, Peter barely there mentally, and Lola not really caring. At least she had herself to get their work done... They didn't talk in lecture, save for the polite hello and goodbyes, and didn't do anything more than smile at each other when they passed in the halls or on the street.
Peter hated every second of it, but he wasn't sure what else to do. He didn't want to start something with her, but he didn't want to lose her, but he didn't want to be just friends. Every road felt like a dead end. And Lola wasn't making any moves to try and fix things either.
It was now Saturday again and Peter was sitting at the desk in his room, square in the uncomfortable wooden chair, propped up on his elbows, watching the rain fall. It was pouring actually, and there was snow on the way in the middle of next week, which only meant that the temperatures were sure to drop again.
It felt like spring would never come.
Peter stared up at the sky, the grey black mix of clouds looming over ominously. There was sure as fuck trouble brewing at least somewhere in the city, but putting that persona back on right now felt like the end of the world.
Actually, anything that wasn't Lola Grace Miller themed felt like the end of the world.
But Peter was holding himself back again. He was convinced it wasn't a good idea. From the beginning, liking her felt oddly disturbing, and after hurting her with a mere kiss, Peter decided that he needed to quit it with girls for at least a little while longer, no matter how much he wanted her. It just wasn't the right time. Especially if he had to keep fighting with himself over his feelings.
And there was something else.
Wednesday when Peter got back from classes at around noon, he went into his bedroom only to find a newspaper folded up on top of his unmade bed. It was flipped to an article about a Nuclear Power plant nearby leaking, but on the other side was an article about how Spider-man was back in action. Aunt May did that sometimes- left newspapers on Peter's bed. Mostly things she thought were interesting or stuff that he would find cool or amusing. He didn't think it was out of the ordinary for her to leave this for him.
Apparently, after Peter stopped the purse snatcher, both the homeless man and the girl from the party- the one he was attempting to steal from- headed down to the local news station and ran their mouths. There were pictures of each of them posted above a full novel's worth of details about the interaction. Neither of them held back in their interviews. The man confessed to stealing, the girl confessed to be performing the 'walk of shame' at the time. Now everybody in the city knew their business. But everybody in the city also thought that Spider-man was back.
