Chapter 28: Shrink or Grow?

(Y/N)'s POV
After the witches and wizards have gone, we cautiously climbed down the tree. We looked at the map and went north to reach Serena.

But, as the sun began to set, we realized we're not going to make it there tonight.

Unfortunately, there were no caves we can camp in. We tried finding shelter but there were not a single shelter to be seen. Nothing but lush green trees.

"Where are we going to sleep?" I asked. "Hm...I guess we can sleep on the trees?" Kanato said. "Huh? No way, im not a panther" Xander objected.

"Psst! Hey kids!" A voice said. We looked around to find the source of the voice. An old lady was waving to us.

"I heard that you are seeking for shelter. I happened to have empty rooms in my cottage nearby. Youre welcome to stay with me" The old lady said.

I walked to her and said "oh thank you. Can you bring us to your cottage?" I asked. "Certainly. Just follow me" the old lady said with a crooked smile.

"She seems suspicious....." Ray whispered into my ear. "Yeah...I agree..." Xander said. "What if she's a witch....?" Kanato added.

"Well....at least she is offering us a place to stay for the night..." I whispered back while trailing the old lady.

"Hmm...but what if its a trap?" Xander asked. "Well...we can only wait and see what might happen" I said. "Youre right...but im not leaving your side..since she's really really suspicious.." Ray said.

"Fine...I'll stay with you guys..." I sighed out. "Yay!" Kanato cheered quietly. "We're here, kids" the old lady said as we reached a VERY creepy cottage.

A shiver ran up my spine as Ray held my hand tightly. "I won't let anything happen to you..." Ray said. "Yeah right....you slapped her and made her fell to the ground" Xander said.

"What? No, i didn't" Ray denied. "Yeah, you did.." Kanato said. "When?" Ray asked. "When you were under the Queen's spell" I said.

"T-that does not count. I couldn't even remember when she put a spell on me" Ray said. The old lady entered the cottage and we followed.

"Wow...this place is...interesting.." I lied. "Why, thank you" the old lady smiled. The whole living room is really dark with almost no light.

I instinctively held onto Ray's hands even tighter. "I'll prepare dinner. Please make yourselves at home" she said and walked into the kitchen.

I sat on the couch and shivered since its really cold in here. Ray, Xander and Kanato cuddled me and I smiled. "If anything were to happen, I'm pretty sure we can't escape through the main door..." Ray said.

"We need to find another way to escape if something happens..." Kanato said. "Hey...look...theres a little door there" I said and pointed to a small door.

It was really tiny...like only 10inches tall. "How do you expect us to escape through there?" Xander asked. I opemed the door and looked through it.

Sure enough, it leads back out to the woods. "I actually stole two portions from Queen Miranda..." Ray said and showed us two potions.

One spelled 'drink me'. The other spelled 'eat me'. Behind, a small label with the words 'shrinking potion' was said in the drink me potion while 'growing potion' was written on the 'eat me' bottle label.

"We can shrink ourselves and walk through that door. Then, after we reached back out into the woods, we can use the growing potion to return us to our normal sizes" Ray stated.

"Oh...good idea" I said. We sat back on the couch and looked around. "Kids! Dinner is ready" the old lady said with a playful tone.

We sat on the chairs and the old lady served us our dinner. "Enjoy" the old lady said. It has a terrible stench but not wanting to be rude, I ate it.

Soon after, I felt faint and immediately started losing my vision. "(Y/N)? (Y/N)?!" Ray shouted. I fainted after that.

Ray's POV
"(Y/N)? (Y/N)?!" I shouted her name but she fainted right after. "What did you do to her?!" Xander said angrily. "Oh...nothing" the old lady smiled cheekily.

I tried to wake (Y/N) up but to no avail. "Stop worrying about her...you're mine after all, Ray" the old lady said as smoke covered her. As the smoke subsided, Queen Miranda was standing before us.

"Come with me, and that girl won't get hurt..." She said, venom dripping through her tone. "Never!" I said and took out my sword.

Then, I raised it and slashed her cheeks. She screamed in pain and I quickly carried (Y/N) to the small door.

I took out the shrinking potion and fed it to (Y/N). She shrank to the size of the door. Then, I drank the potion and I could feel everything becoming bigger.

Xander took the bottle and drank it too. Then, Kanato drank it and both of them began shrinking.

I carried (Y/N) in my arms carefully. We opened the door and quickly ran through it. "No! Come back here! My husband!" Queen Miranda shouted.

After we reached into the woods, we searched for place to hide us from the Queen's wrath. "There!" I said as I pointed to a hole.

We quickly jumped into the hole and sat in the soil. Luckily, there were no ants or insects wondering around the hole.

I looked back at (Y/N) worriedly and tried to wake her up. "Please wake up..." I said while hugging her. "Hey! She's mine!" Kanato said and hugged her too.

"No...she's mine!" Xander said and took her away from us. Each of us tried to wake her up but her eyes wouldn't even open.

"I guess we will have to wait..." I said. "Yeah.." Xander said.

Meanwhile, we could hear Queen Miranda stomping around and continuously shouting "Ray! My love! Where are you?! You can't hide from me! Your own wife!".

I sighed and just looked at (Y/N) worriedly.
