"Kyro, come in the living room please! There's someone I'd like for you to meet," I heard my mother yell up the stairs. I felt a smile coming onto my face as excitement coursed through my body. Me? Someone to meet me?!

I stood up and situated my clothes, stepping over the Legos on my floor that I had yet to pick up like dad asked me to earlier that day. I opened my door and started down the stairs when I heard my mom's best friend's voice.

"It's okay, honey. He's a very sweet boy, I promise you'll love him. There's no need to be nervous." Who was she talking to? I took a deep breath before finishing down the stairs and into the living room. I saw mom standing in front of her friend, but there was three sets of feet instead of two. The second set looked a lot smaller than the other two.

"Mom?" I said, getting her attention. She turned around and smiled big at me.

"Ky! There you are. I wanted to introduce you to Leslie's son. He's your age and he's going to be living next door to us now! His name is Lynx," mom said, stepping to the side to allow me to see the boy standing between them. He was looking at the ground and he seemed scared. I was too though. I didn't know what to expect, but the second he looked up and those bright blue eyes met mine, something turned in my chest and a smile crept onto my face.

"Hi, Lynx!" I exclaimed, bouncing over to the new boy in front of me.

"H-hi," he said, turning his head away from me with bright red cheeks. The feeling in my chest and the smile on my face only grew as I turned to my mom.

"I like him, momma," I stated as happy as I had ever been up to that moment. Her and Leslie chuckled to themselves, smiles on their faces as well. If only they truly knew what I was feeling inside. I had never felt like this before when I've met anyone at school.

And I was completely okay with it.

And that was the beginning of a lifetime. Or so I thought at least.
