It's Never that Simple

Yato peaked over Hiyori’s shoulder for the fourth time that minute. I can’t screw it up that fast Hiyori silently pleaded to herself. She had taken the tips that Yato had given her about drawing to heart and felt as though it she was able to apply them pretty well since it had only been three hours and her fourth attempt with him here.

Before that it was all a blur of anger for Hiyori with a series of curse words that would have brought her family more shame than they would think possible. Art was not her thing only harmless doodles were.

Her idea for the theme was something that had only happened earlier that week. Since the theme for her piece of art had to be Beyond the Realm of Reality she decided on making herself the center of the piece of art. Though it was not completely her. It was a depiction of when she was about to cross over to the far shore. Her ears were pointed, she had full fangs, and blight was almost covering every inch of her body. This is what she looked like when she almost lost complete control and everything she was.

This piece of art to her was going to serve as a reminder that she could have disappeared from this world as beast or rather a full phantom giving into the far shore. She was so glad to have been brought back by her own personal god, Yato. She was adding some shading around her neck when she finally stopped she looked down and was quite surprised. It looked decent. Not Yato level, but honestly with Yato’s other drawbacks he could have drawing.

She turned around to display her final product that she could be proud of, but instead of a smiling dork with half his hair tied up she was met with the boy sprawled out on her bed with his hair covering his closed eyes. She could hear the patterns of his breathing slow and steady oddly calming her. Almost certain his scent was seeping into her sheets also brought her a small bit of happiness.

She admitted defeat of gaining his approval that day and pondered where in the hell am I going to sleep? Looking around her room to see if there were any viable options, there were not, but another thought came to mind just sleep next to him. The idea made her skin electric. The room suddenly became very dense and the air felt as though it had raised a couple degrees already.

Would he be mad if she slept next to him? I mean it was her bed and where else would she sleep?

Hiyori looked at the clock and that is what finally won her over. It was three in the morning. Sleep now worry about how Yato felt about it later.

Hiyori decided just to stay in her comfy clothes to sleep and looked for a tactical approach for this. Yato was sleeping on the edge of the bed on top of the covers which means that if Hiyori was on the other side under the covers then she would have the least to worry about. Reaching her lamp she turned off the light and approached the bed for her mission

Hiyori reached the edge of the bed and placed a firm hold on the bed on either side of Yato’s chest so she could just swing her legs around to the other side of him. Getting ready to kick her legs up and over she briefly felt the touch of two hand slightly moist running up her forearm all the way to her elbow.

“If you wanted to sleep next to me you could have just asked” Yato’s blue eyes reflected as a small light from the moon passed into her room.

“Uhhhhhh. I’m sorry! I’m sorry! It’s three in the morning! I have school tomorrow and my projects due! I’m so tired. I did not want to move you. I’m,” Hiyori was cut off as the god grabbed her waist and pulled her down on top of him so her head was resting on his chest feeling it rise and fall in rhythm with her own.

“You should be sleeping instead of talking so much if you it’s so late.” He spoke firmly as his eyes slowly drifted closed one more. Both of their bodies next to each other seemed to relax and synchronize. Just as it seemed Hiyori was meant to lay on Yato’s chest because honestly with the way he smelt and the way she felt this was only thing she would ever wish for. Sure her family problem to be gone would be a nice wish, but when it came to this god of fortune it was clear he held a priority over even that.

He had her heart it was as simple as that. But as Hiyori’s eye lids gained weight her last thought rang clear it would never be simple he is a god and I’m half monster.
