As an old man walked in who she guessed to be the headmaster with older boys trailing behind carried banners
Headmaster Nolan a man who look 20 years older than he was stood at the podium
"Ladies and gentlemen...........boys......."he stated dramatically pointing the the lit candle "the light of knowledge"
The adults applauded forcing there kids to do so as Nolan stepped forward with the candle
The boys stood up Adeline stayed sat behind because she couldn't deal with all this shit in the end

The rest was drowned out while Adeline looked around the room her eyes landed and on a pair who were already stirring in confusion but smirked ones he noticed she was looking right back at him she had to admit he was cute but she couldn't be bothered with boys at this point so she re-directed her eyes back to the front
"As I was stating this year there will be a girl at welton this year on trial ,but that will not change anything

And with that the assembly came to an end (finally to Adelines distaste) as they were walking out Nolan approaches them (fuck sake she thought)
"Ahh miss maye,you have some big shoes to fill since your brother a very good student here at welton in his time here I expect the same"he said sternly
"Thank you sir" her dad spoke up moving along
"Well let's find you're room then shall we"her mum smiled
"Here we are room 265 right at the end,you should be alright here but if you need anything give us a call"they smiled and hugged but soon enough they walked away
Adeline sighed and walked in it was dull and boring,depressing soon enough she was nearly packed all her stuff away until there was a knock she didn't answer the first time because no one knew her they must have the room mixed up but they nocked again so she opened the door
