11-year-old charlie Black was sitting on the stairwell listening to her mom and uncle Matthew were was having a very serious conversation about Charlie's grandfather, She was supposed to be playing with her cousins Ayden and Grayson, but all they wanted to do was play video games so she decided to eavesdrop oh her mother and uncles conversation her uncle went on and on about how her grandfather was going crazy, Charlie couldn't help but roll her eyes at his remarks, "he's been like this since mom died, he's telling my kids magic is real," Charlie was about to leave the stairwell annoyed by the things being said about her grandfather when she heard something that made her heart drop. "The care facility will pick dad up in two days," Matthew said.
"What! they cant take grandpa away!" Charlie yelled storming down the stairs. "Charlie you're supposed to be playing with your cousins." her mom said. "mom please tell me your joking you cant send grandpa away!" "sweetheart it's already been decided your grandpa needs help, more help than we can give him,"
Charlie couldn't believe what she was hearing she ran up to her room locked the door opened the window grabbed her bike and rode towards her grandpa's mansion "I have to warn him." she thought. *knok,knok,knok.* her grandpa answered the door. "Charlie what are you doing here are you hurt, how did you even get here its past your bedtime?!" "I snuck out but don't worry I left music playing in my room so my mom thinks I'm still there." "Ha, you just like your grandma Bree." Conner laughed, "But seriously what are you doing here?" I came to warn you that mom and Matthew are going to send you away you have to leave!" "Don't worry I'm going on vacation with my sister nobody will be able to take me to take me to a care facility where I'm going, now go home before your mom starts to worry." "Too late." her mom said standing in the doorway. "I knew you would be here, now come on it's time to go home."
Charlie's punishment for sneaking out was to clean the attic, while she moved around boxes she saw a bright glowing light it was coming from a book, the title of the book was the land of stories, she opened the book and a purple butterfly flew out, "what in the world!" charlie grabbed a Christmas ornament from a box and threw it into the book it went straight threw. Charlie spent hours in the attic dropping random objects into the book. Charlie became so curious about where the items were going she decided to stick her head in just a little bit to see, but suddenly the door to the attic swung open and it startled charlie so much she fell through. "Charlie your mom says it's time for lunch! Charlie? where did you go?"
"AHHHHH!" charlie screamed as she fell through the air and landed on a bunch of now broken Christmas ornaments, "Owch!" just as she started to stand up something crashed onto her she fell back onto the ground. Slowly Charly regained herself and rose from the ground for the second time but was again painfully crushed to the floor by another large object. "Charlie, is that you?"
"Ayden, Greyson what are you guys doing here?!" "Well we saw you fall through a book so we went in after you. So were are we?" Greyson asked. "Honestly I have no idea."
