I immediately recognised the song. It was the song he'd shown me from his Spotify.
"Wait, so you like- covered a song from Weezer?" I questioned.
He nodded before starting to sing.
"Oh yeah... alright. Somebody's heine' is crowding my ice box, somebody's cold one is giving me chills, guess I'll just close my eyes.."
He looked at me, encouraging me to join in.
"Oh yeah, alright." I sang softly.
"Feels good, inside." We sang together.
Finn tapped the guitar for tempo before we both started the next verse.
"Flip on the telly." I sang by myself.
"Wrestle with Jimmy!" Finn sang, adding a high pitched quirk to the last word.
"Something is bubbling behind my back, the bottle is ready to blow..." We sang, fading out, ready for chorus.
Once again, Finn tapped the guitar for tempo but a little faster and louder before we burst into the chorus.
"SAY IT AIN'T SO-OH WOAH WOAH! YOUR DRUG IS A HEARTBREAKER! SAY IT AIN'T SO-OH WOAH WOAH! MY LOVE IS A LIFE TAKER!"
I listened while Finn carried on by himself.
"Ow, ow, ow!" He cried out to song while I bopped my head rhythmically.
"I can't confront you. I never could do, that which might hurt you. So try and be cool, when I say:
'This way, is a water slide away from me that takes you further every day."Finn sang quickly while I smiled and got up ready to dance to the chorus.
"So be cool..." Finn nodded to me, implying that he meant it to me.
"SAY IT AIN'T SO-OH WOAH WOAH!" We both yelled happily.
"My love, is a heartbreaker..." Finn slowed down and stopped singing but continued to play the guitar.
"Say it ain't so-oh woah woah! My love is a life taker..." I slowed to a stop as the guitar did.
"Finn, the song wasn't over, are you okay?" I asked.
He broke out of a trance and looked at me.
"Huh? Oh yeah- I'm fine, let's just keep going, kay?"
I nodded and he stared playing the guitar again.
"Dear daddy, I write you, in spite of years of silence. You've cleaned up, found Jesus. Things are good or so I hear. This bottle, of Stephen's awakens ancient feelings. Like father, stepfather. My son is drowning in the flood. Yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah."
By the time I realised I was singing by myself, Finn was silent.
"Finn, for fucks sake, just please tell me what's going on!"
