The Task

Lucas's POV:

I was in my room when I heard my father calling me. While wondering why would he call me I didn't realise I was already in front of his office door.
"Yes?" I asked my father with a sarcastic tone.

"Lucas... My only son, are you ready to be the next Mafia leader?" my father reply playfully.

"Of course father" I answered.

I was determined to become the next leader, I've been waiting for my father to ask me this question since I was 15.
"I admire you determination but I have one last task for you... I have to be sure if you are ready." My father said. I felt the anger going through my body. Of course I was ready.

"What is the task" I asked trying to hold my anger

My father showed me a picture of a girl. She was pretty. Long brown hair, soft face with light blue eyes. "I want you to make this girl fall in love with you and then kill her" I heard my father said "She is studying in Rocksford High, i already signed you in this school"...

There was a pause between our conversation. HE DID WHAT?!(it took me a second to understand his words)
I have never been to school and now he want me to go there and make this girl fall in love with me.

"Why? " was all I asked not wanting to make my father  angry.

"Because I want to see if  you are worthy" said my father mockingly
What did he mean by worthy?
Of course I was worthy and he knew that. I wanted to kill my father right now for saying this.

It feels like he never saw what I have done. I have killed people for him, I have lied to people for him...
And then I realised that one more person won't hurt me, because I was already broken, so because of that I accept my father's offer and left his office.

I can't believe that in just a week I was going to school.
I sit on my bed thinking about this offer "I can do it" I told to myself "I will become the next Mafia leader and after this I will have no regrets"
That is the last thing I remember I said to myself before falling asleep
(it was late at night so..)
