P. S. - Happy New year!Lucas's POV :
08.01.2022
It was a warm Saturday morning when I got out of bed. I looked at my phone to see that it was 8:00 am. Usually I wake up earlier but I decided to sleep out a bit because it was going to be a long day.
I started to get ready for the day and about 10 minutes later I was done. I walked downstairs to see my father drinking coffee and reading the news.(aka the usual)
"Morning" he said with a cold tone "Ready to go?"
"Yes" I answer
"Well then. Let's get moving" my dad said getting up from the table
____20 minutes later we were in front of a little door leading into the cemeteries. You may be asking why are we going to the cemeteries?
Well this is where my mother finds her peace. Yes, she is dead. She died when I was 6. I loved her tho.
She was always there when I needed her. She was the opposite of me and my dad. She was calm, funny, kind, lovely and caring or at least I can remebmer her being that.
When I learned that she was murdered it broke my heart. I mean it's hard for a 6 years old boy to learn that the person who he cared about the most is dead. It's been 12 years but i still get sad when I pass through her portrait in the house. My dad also loved her. After he found out who murdered my mom he made sure that they will suffer and that they pay for what they did.
We walked on the cobblestone path until we reached the end of the cemetery. We took a right turn and we immediately saw a big grave stone and letters carved in it :
Jane Armando Rodríguez
1976-2009
Beloved mother, wife, sister and a daughter
"Not even the sun can outshine your smile. Make sure you never stop smiling, no matter where you are... "And then with a litlle sloppy carving there was a little text and was almost invincible:
"Until death do us apart they said. But they never said those words would become true"
I bet my father wrote that last one.
"Son.. Can I talk to your mother. Privately?" My dad asked me. I nodded my head at him with confusion while staring into his teary eyes. It's not every day that you see a Mafia boss crying so i turned back in the opposite direction and decided to take a walk around the graveyard.
While I was walking I saw a lot of different names each one with their own story. I was looking for one name in particular even that I did not realise it. Then I saw what I was looking for. It was a small gravestone and I could say it was hidden from the others. I look at the little inscription on it. It was the same sloppy carving from my mom's stone:
Carlos Sebastián Díaz
The rest of the grave stone was destroyed so I wasn't able to read any more. I walked back to my father only to see that he has just finished "talking" to my mom.
"Dad, can i talk to her too?" I asked hoping that he will agree. In response he only nodded his head. I walked to my mother's grave and saw a bunch of lavenders. My mother's favourite flowers. I wonder if my father placed them because I didn't saw him bringing flowers with us.
I crouched to the grave stone and look at the inscription one more time.
