Crewmate of Captain Blue Peter, The S.S. Hillenburg
We went to the next shop to find our effects. Our next stop was a Firearm and Florists' shop called
"Guns and Roses". With the tag under it saying, "One you shoot with and the other shoots by itself!".
As we went into the shop. The entire shop was decorated with flowers and flintlocks with their names next to them
Petunias and Pistols, Roses and Revolvers, Magnolias and Magnums, Snowdrops and Shotguns, Tiger-Lillies and Torpedoes, Bluebells and Bazookas, Azaleas and AK-47s.
At the counter were two ladies who seemed to be the proprietors of this shop. One was wearing a necklace of pink, yellow and orange hibiscus flowers, wavy flowy hair. A flower crown on top.
The other instead of having a necklace of flowers, they had a necklace of bullet shells. They wore a bandana with skull patterns on the fabric and had long curly hair seeping from underneath.
I tried my hand at drawing them.
We soon learnt that the flower seller was named Izzy Adler and her more rugged partner was her wife, Duffy Buckethead.
They also had a pet black frog that they called Steven Stradlin.
Ricardo went up to the counter, proclaiming "Yo, we're 'ere for our bewmsticks!"
"Well Welcome to the Jungle, New bloods." Welcomed Mrs. Buckethead. She leapt over the counter and ushered us to come along with her to the room that was just three stairs up from the ground floor. To a square room that had guns of all shaped and sizes.
"Now the question first of all, is what kind of starter gun would you like?" Mrs. Buckethead asked us, while waving her hands below the collection.
She first picked up a small pistol cradling it as if it was her own baby.
"Now this little thing may seem small, but it packs a punch! Easy to hold and more importantly easy to fire." She demonstrated how the gun works pulling the trigger and firing it into thin air. Of course she was firing a blank.
The next gun was longer; however, the barrel of the gun was much wider.
"Behold the Blunderbuss!" declared Mrs. Buckethead, holding it above her head as a it was a trophy.
"Do you hate it when people get you down?
Do you hate it when people give you hate?
Do you hate it when people ask you rhetorical questions?
Do you hate it when people question you, just to sell you something?
And Do you hate it when people ask you five questions in a row?
Then look no further than the Blunderbuss, whenever you'd like to 'bus' those 'blunders' away (to the afterlife) simply pull the trigger..."
As she demonstrated the use of the blunderbuss, the blast was far bigger and louder this time. However, confetti seemed to come out of the barrel.
"...and your enemies will be wiped out in a row!" Mrs. Buckethead then saw the mess of confetti that the blunderbuss made. "Oops, sorry sorry. We also use this for Weddings and Birthday Parties."
"Do ya use dem for funerals as well?" Ricardo spoke up.
"What? No no no, that would be very inappropriate." Mrs. Buckethead answered whilst putting the demo model back.
She then picked up a rifle that was very long, there seemed to be a spyglass roped together with it. The spyglass sat on top of the longer but narrower barrel of the rifle
"Now I'd call this the Far-Cry, because it shoots far and makes them cry! Or die..." Mrs. Buckethead measured her height with the length of the rifle. She then prepared to fire the far-cry to demonstrate its capability.
As Far-Cry shot, the bullet rippled through the air and out of the shop. Unfortunately, it appeared to have hit a nearby boat, capsizing it.
I could hear a large shout coming from the man that was driving it.
"DAMMIT BUCKETHEAD! AGAIN?!" yelled the drenched man, who was trying to climb on top of the boat.
"Dear, you need to be more careful with your demonstrations." Mrs. Adler told her wife.
Mrs. Buckethead feeling guilty for dunking the man she cried out a "Oops my bad, sorry!" unto him.
I think the man was too busy ringing his shirt out to notice.
Mrs. Buckethead sheepishly set the Far-Cry back in its holster.
Ricardo and I had a long thought on what we wanted our starter gun to be.
Immediately Ricardo knew that he already wanted a blunderbuss immediately.
"Man, Imma be like; BEWM BEWM BEWM." I remember him explaining.
He then threw money at them, quite literally in fact and then they threw change at him back.
I could imagine it hurt quite a bit.
However, I was unsure on which gun would be my first.
I do not think that I could handle a blunderbuss, nor that I think it would suit my personality.
The Far-Cry might be more adapt. To defend myself from a far could be quite the advantage.
Although, the idea of lugging around a tool of that magnitude and longitude, would be a heavy burden.
I eventually settled on the Flintlock. It was small and compact and enough for me to handle.
I paid Mrs. Buckethead and I took a long look at the gun that I just bought.
The craftmanship was exquisite. I found it intriguing that on the barrel of the gun, the word 'Dawn.' Was inscribed.
Ricardo pointed out that the make of his Blunderbuss was called Jack White, though I believe that name of the company that manufactured the gun and not the gun itself.
We thanked the two ladies for their service, and we were on our way out of the shop until Mrs. Adler approached us.
"Hang on, before you go. I think you two will suit these flowers."
Mrs Adler bestowed Ricardo and I two flowers.
The Flower that was given to Ricardo was called the Camellia. It was a bright pink colour, with petal circling each other in layers. Mrs Adler told Ricardo that it represented desire, passion, and refinement.
I see that Ricardo was slightly bewildered from what was given to him, but he thanked Mrs. Adler and stuffed the flower within his Jacket.
When it came to my turn. I was given the Protea. It had grey petals overarching a row of curved pink petals which were cupping a white pointed bud.
Mrs Adler revealed to me that the flower represents strength, courage, and resilience. She wished that those qualities would stay with me and grow throughout my journey.
We both thanked Mrs Buckethead and Mrs Adler for their service as we made our way to find the final shop on our list.
