Ed felt like he had been chewed up by a hill giant, his whole body heavy and raw as he entered Kirwin's old bedroom. The slate blue flooring looked like a giant pool of black as he walked in, only the moonlight from the balcony outside giving him any light. He had trudged into the washroom, cleaned himself off and changed into some new clothes, if only to warm his skin from the long walk back to the Keep. He had walked the whole way back in silence, contemplating everything that happened. Nobody had said anything after the city guards took Peren away to deal with, Brienne informing them of everything that had transpired. Ed had turned the moment they were finished with him to go back to the Keep and wait for Olly's return.... if she returned.
Ed had felt their eyes on him though, had felt the hesitance of saying anything for fear of what it might cause. Ed didn't want to speak anyhow, didn't know how to process any of it. Should he be happy that Olly had fled Peren? Was she in his arms out of force or out of guilt? Did she still want anyone after what had just happened?
So many questions came up, in yet he had no answer for any of them. He only felt his own guilt, the guilt of letting it all happen because he was too caught up in the moment. He was so involved in what he wanted, he never stopped to think of what should be done.
The darkness of the room shrouded his spirit, the coldness from the breeze outside making him shiver as he bent his form in defeat.
"What I should have done, was never gotten this close" he said angry with himself as he stared at the floor "I should never have strayed from the path. I never should have wanted outside of my path. Now I've allowed this to happen, and it's only brought pain...."
He needed to leave here. Needed to leave Olly to live her own life and not have his love influence her decisions....
Sitting on the bedside, it was the shadow of movement from the window that made him turn towards the outside. Something was flying in the clouds, dipping in and out like a beautiful shroud. He spotted the glowing figure sailing through the starlit sky, making him move quickly outside as the cool breeze hit him. Was it a bird?
No, far too big to be a bird as it rounded around one of the towers of the Keep.
It was...Olly.
She was flying through the air on those majestic wings, headed right for him as she sailed high above the balcony before descending slowly down like an actual angel right in front of him. Her feet landed gently on the stone, her form dimly glowing now as she faced him with a soft expression. Slowly, her wings began falling apart, the feathers falling like petals until only her small form was standing perfectly normal in front of him.
"Olly, you were just-" he managed to get out, his voice light in shock.
"I know" Olly smiled at him, her eyes glowing bright in the darkness. She moved into his arms; unaware he had been holding them out for her.
"How did you?" Ed started but quickly shook himself mentally to get serious "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine" she said looking up at him "Ed, there's something I have to tell you..."
