kate could see and hear everything, so clearly, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't control what she was saying and doing.

"the full moon rises before nightfall," sarah smiles, approaching y/n and lizzie,

"good night to enjoy the fruits of the land," y/n finishes, her and lizzie returning smiles to the eldest fier.

the two watched as sarah sauntered away, turning to each other with goofy grins plastered on their young faces.

"i'm very ecstatic, lizzie," y/n cheered as lizzie watched her happily.

seeing a genuine smile upon y/n's face truly was a sight.

"and i as-well," she agrees.

"may i come with to fetch berries from the widow?" y/n asks, watching as lizzie sends her an unsure look.

"oh please, lizzie! you're letting the pastor's daughter join you, and not me?" y/n asks, putting on a hopeful smile as lizzie huffs and rolls her eyes.

"well, i suppose if you promise not to get hurt," lizzie gives in, watching y/n laugh giddily.

lizzie, y/n, hannah, and sarah all wandered through the woods, after many pleading from y/n and sarah each, they were able to attend.

"the berries make you see the world beyond our own. just take one bite," lizzie smiles, walking down the path as y/n held her candle.

"what does an old lady need with that?" sarah asks.

"she's not just an old lady, the widow's 1,00 years old," y/n defends lizzie,

"she drinks the blood of virgins to keep her youth," lizzie continues, not noticing the blush coating poor y/n's cheeks at her words.

"well you're safe then," sarah remarks, causing hannah to let out a giggle.

"she sacrificed her husband to become the devil's bride," lizzie continues to story,

"that's how she gained eternal life."

"well i heard she kept the company of the natives, and that she even fell in love with one," y/n interrupted.

"that's why she was exiled. she learned their medicine too, solomon told me," she finished.

"ahh, buddy, buddy with a goode?" sarah teases y/n, smiling at her. she hoped she'd agree, to lift the weight off her back. it's not that solomon was a bad man, or a bad looking man, but he wasn't who she wanted.

"he took his wife to her after he lost his child," y/n ignored sarah's statement, causing lizzie to frown slightly.

"but it was too late."

"are you sure this is the right way? how do you know where we're going?" hannah asks lizzie, stopping.

"if you're to doubt her, why'd you attend in the first place?" y/n asks, shining the light in hannah's face as the blonde puts her hands in front of her, in attempt to shield herself from the harsh light.

"i've been here before, remember when abigail had her ring of fire?" lizzie jokes, lightening up the moment as she did a little dance.

y/n giggled at her.

"she was scratching like a dog during father's sermon," hannah jokes, forgetting about the slight feud she'd previously had with y/n.

"mother told me she'd lain with a demon, the devil's gift."

"more like mad thomas' gift," sarah joked, causing the other three to laugh.

"well, whoever she lay with, she made me go to the widow with her."

"and the widow fixed her with witchcraft?"

"yes, witchcraft," lizzie responds, the word feeling weird as it left her tongue. it didn't sound correct.

"and some foul smelling paste made for whores like abbi berman," lizzie joked, gaining a laugh out of her friends.
