Best Friend

Soobin hates school, especially math, but there's nothing to compare about how much he hates it when their last subject teacher makes them do more things until Soobin could see students in the hallway, walking downstairs to go home or maybe hanging out with their friends. This is how their friendship gets tested. His two friends were the biggest extroverts. They love to have fun. They couldn't stay in the same place doing absolutely nothing but they would wait for Soobin in front of his room. Sometimes, you could see or hear them but sometimes, they would be there for exactly 5 minutes and their teacher would dismiss Soobin's class.

Today though, it's different. 

The moment the clock strikes to the time the classes are supposed to end, Soobin could see their heads outside. 

They were early and the reason was 3 chairs away on his left side. Huening Kai.

Soobin still couldn't explain why but he badly needs to look at her every 10 minutes( he's not counting). 

He couldn't do that though. She's 3 chairs away on his side which means he had to turn his head just to see her and he wouldn't do that(he just did) because the teacher doesn't like him and every little mistake, she would ask him questions he couldn't possibly answer and he wouldn't let that happen because it's embarrassing.

Soobin couldn't understand the teacher's words anymore. She's calling names now and he probably understands the 'we would discuss that tomorrow' and then some of his classmates start packing up their things.

“Kai, would you like to go with us?” 

Soobin heard the question as he lifted himself from his seat.

“Aw, I'm so sorry guys. I would absolutely love hanging out with you but I have plans with a friend now. Maybe tomorrow we can or we can just make a group chat and plan it out there?” 

Why is she so nice and friendly?

“Oh. My best friend just texted. He's outside.” Is what Soobin heard before he left the room. He approaches his two friends. Does their bros greet and then stands behind them, knowing what their real intention is here. To see Huening Kai.

“Is that Kang Taehyun?” A girl's voice asked and the three of them followed where she's looking and there in the distance was Kang Taehyun, the bad boy . He was walking as if he's the only person in the hallways, one hand in his pocket and the other holding his phone while he's looking down at it. Seriously, this guy is always chewing something. Is his bag full of gum?

Yeonjun crosses his arms, grimacing a little moment before it was wiped out when Kai finally came out of the room with a few of Soobin's classmates.

Just like a cliche moment in a pocket book, Kai's hair was softly swaying, she flashes a smile and her eyes twinkles. Yeonjun swears she could hear her giggles.

“Bro, she's really pretty.” Beomgyu whispered. Without them realizing, they are not the only ones staring at the new student.

“Hyuka!” 

Just like that, the atmosphere suddenly shifted as Taehyun, Kang Taehyun , lifted his head and for the first time in the history of this school, he smiled so much he had the whole students in the hallway gawking at him.

“Hyunie!” Kai suddenly squeals and they watch the tall pretty girl running towards the campus bad boy who has his arms open. Kai jumps into him and Taehyun immediately wraps his arms around her, lifting her as if they don't have the ridiculous height gap. They totally forgot they had an audience.

“Are they… you know ?” Beomgyu struggles to ask.
