Chapter 33

📍 Riga, Latvia | May 2024

"Walker," Sam said to John, who was pacing back and forth in an electrical warehouse.

Bucky and Sapphire were along with him.

"You guys should see a medic, you don't look so good," John said to them.

"Stop, Walker," Sam told him.

"What? You saw what happened. You know what I had to do. I killed him because I had to! He killed Lemar!" John exclaimed, excusing his actions.

"He didn't kill Lemar, John. Don't go down that road. Believe me, it doesn't end well," Bucky tried to talk to him.

"I'm not like you," John spitted out.

"Listen, it was the heat of the battle, okay?" Sam tried to calm him down. "If you explain what happened, they may consider your record. We don't want anyone else to get hurt. John... You gotta give me the shield, man."

"Oh. So that's what this is. You almost got me," Walker laughed.

"You made a mistake," Sapphire said. "Your head is filled with anger and pain. I get that. But you have to surrender the shield."

She stepped closer to him, and Bucky gripped her shoulders to stop her.

"You don't wanna do this," Walker shook his head.

"Yeah, we do," Bucky replied before engaging him in a fight.

Before Sapphire can emmit the illusion in her head, she gets thrown by John against a post. There was a sharp object on it that dug deep to Sapphire's back.

"Fucking hell," She hissed. "What's with everyone abusing my capabilities to heal."

She lifted herself off of it and laid on the floor. She could not use her abilities because her body would need all of them to heal.

Bucky was even more furious with what John did to Sapphire and tried to take the shield away from Walker. They fought for it until John was about to pound the shield on Bucky but was kicked at the back by Sam.

Bucky tried to punch through the shield but was pushed against a metal post.

"Why are you making me do this? Why are you making me do this?!" John exclaimed to Bucky, throwing him to an electrical post, making his vibranium arm react. He lied on the floor.

Sam flew over Walker and kicked him. They wrestle each other on the floor before Sam used his wings to slid away.

"This isn't you, John..." Sam told him, tucking his wings back.

"We could've been a team..." Walker said distastefully, before Sam went to lunge on the shield once more.

Sam latched on to the shield with a string and flew away but was held back by John stepping on a post, tugging him back.

When John pulled him to the floor, they wrestled again before he got on top of Sam, ripping his wings off, "I. Am. Captain America!"

When John lifted the shield over his head to hit Sam with it, Sapphire came at him from the back.

She held his head between her hands and let out a surge of electricity.

John tried to wriggle out of Sapphire's hold and fighting the pain of the current.

Sapphire lifted Walker off of Sam by the head and threw him to a post. He went running towards her, but Bucky lunged at him before he could.

Bucky held the shield, trying to take it from him, while Sam tried to take it from John's hand. Sapphire ran through an illusion to Walker, making him shout at Sam pulled the shield away from him completely.
