It was a crisp day. The five friends were sitting around the coffee table as they chattered away, the soft drumming of the persistent rain bouncing off the windows was all else they could hear. The day was casual, normal, something familiar that Kami adored about her friends.
"Phoebe, listen, I know I let you borrow my clothes rack for...whatever your grandma needed it for but we need it back," Kami complained to the blonde sitting next to her on the long brown sofa. The elderly lady has had it for at least a week and Kami and her roommate were struggling to find creative places to dry their clothes, even attempting a precautious method with the window and lots of sellotape...let's just say it wasn't a good idea.
"Why? There's perfectly good dryers down at the laundrettes," she shrugged, taking a sip of her coffee.
"Do you want me to go broke? Phoebe, those prices are extortionate." Kami huffed, picking solemnly at the corner of her fashion magazine so Monica, who was sitting on Kami's other side, plucked it from her grasp.
"Yeah, well extortionate or not, your clothes rack is preoccupied and trust me," Phoebe paused unable to contain her giggles. "You won't be wanting it back."
"Oh, gross!" Monica exclaimed, a horrified expression flashing onto her face which caused her to drop the magazine.
"Phoebe," Kami groaned, her head tilting back in stress and her hands coming up to meet them to cover her face.
"Oh, look. Mr happy-go-lucky has decided to join us," Chandler suddenly said, forcing me to regain my composure to turn back to see Ross holding a great umbrella that might as well been shielding us from his self-deprecating energy.
"Hi," he said lowly, face almost unmoving.
"With this mood, I'm surprised you didn't drown in the rain," Kami grimaced.
"Honestly, it makes me wanna kill myself," Joey expressed, holding his hands out in disbelief.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" asked Monica, rubbing her brother's arm. Kami's eyebrows furrowed, realising she needed to steal that yellow jacket Monica was wearing, she had the perfect shoes to go with it.
"I feel like someone reached down my throat, grabbed my small intestine, pulled it out my mouth and tied it around my neck," Ross said, zoning Kami back into the conversation with a grimace.
"Cookie?" offered Chandler to stop Ross's rambling.
"Carol took out her stuff today," Monica exclaimed and the rest of us let off a resounding chorus of 'oh.'
"Good for her," Kami couldn't help but mutter under her breath which earned a very sharp look from Monica.
"Let me get you some coffee," Monica said quickly, hoping Ross didn't hear Kami's comment which the Indian simply shrugged at.
