Kami was cursing to herself furiously as she marched up the steps towards Monica's apartment. Idiotically, she had left her work ID there, right on the kitchen counter beside the fridge, she could literally picture it in her mind. She had an early morning meeting with one of kids, that meant she woke up even well before the crack of dawn to get ready in time. Her mind felt like a mess and she was sure she looked like one too. She tried to calm herself, not wanting to snap at her friends.

Rachel left the coffee mug at the kitchen table at the frantic knocking on the door. She wasn't expecting the woman who was at the door, Monica hadn't mentioned that she'd be coming this morning. She did warn her about the boys coming over which she didn't need. This one, however, she'd have liked the warning.

"Oh, hey, Rach," Kami said, dropping her bag on the floor as she stepped into the apartment.

Rachel couldn't help but admire the girl. She knew that it was no fluke, Kami being the only one whose fashion sense stood out to her. She wore brown pants, with a golden belt which matched her hoops. A simple black tank top was covered by a long, black cardigan. A gold chain was around her neck, bangles at her wrists too. Rachel admired how she kept her culture a strong accent to the way she dressed despite being in New York.

Rachel realised she wasn't only looking at her outfit but at the woman's face, too. A little too long, she might add, to the point where it seemed as if Kami had asked her multiple questions already that she hadn't caught.

"Rachel, you still in there?" Kami asked, leaning against the counter by the fridge, lanyard already around her neck, eyebrows pinched together in concern.

"Oh, sorry," the blonde laughed, waving her hand before tightening her robe, slightly conscious how she was wasn't wearing a t-shirt underneath. Why she cared? She didn't have time to think about it.

"I just asked how you're feeling," Kami repeated, eyes trying not to drift down at Rachel's exposed neck, she didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. She turned around to pour herself a cup of coffee that Monica probably made, she could hear the shower running.

"Well, you know, like you would expect someone who abandoned their own wedding to feel," she grimaced and Kami turned around, coffee in hand, and smiled sympathetically at her.

"I know, it sucks," she nodded. "But it'll get better."

"Yeah," Rachel sighed, looking down and sinking back into her chair. "So do you guys always come over so early in the morning? I'm expecting Joey and Chandler to walk in any second."

"Oh, no," Kami shook her head. "Not me at least, not usually. I just left this last night," she explained, holding up her lanyard. "I called Monica this morning."
