One last time (#3 to Meeting MacGyver series)

Chapter Four

Jack pinched the bridge of his nose and said quietly,"You mean to tell me that some of Murdoc's former bosses are after you and Olivia, and you have no clue who they are, and all you know is that you've defeated them in the pass. Come on man that could be anyone, we've probably defeated over 200 bad guys. Plus they'll be in the states in 17 1/2 hours. Are you sure Murdoc didn't give you any sort of clue who's coming after you?" Mac looked at him with exasperation as he sat on the floor and said shakily,"No,Jack, he didn't. An to be honest, not knowing who our enemies are is really starting to freak me out. I mean the kids, you, Maddie, Riley, Bozer, and all the other people we know are in danger just because they have such a strong connection with us, that if they were injured, it would destroy us." Jack placed a hand on Mac's shoulder and said calmly,"Hey, it'll be okay. We'll figure it out together." He watched as Mac closed his eyes an took a couple of deep breathes as he tried to calm his nerves. Mac opened his eyes and looked at Jack as he got up and said,"Thanks, Jack, I needed that." Jack nodded and said,"No problem, its the least I can do. Now, why don't you go grab Livs and tell her what's happening." As Mac went to find Olivia, Maddie came up to him and said,"How's he holding up?" Jack shrugged and said,"Not too bad, but I can tell his anxiety and nerves are through the roof. Hopefully Olivia and him can keep there cool long enough to get through this mess." Maddie looked at him and said,"You've decided to go with them didn't you?" Jack sighed as he looked back at her and said,"Madds, Mac and Olivia are my second family, plus you and Riley and Bozer of course. They're the family I wished I had growing up. I mean yeah my parents loved me,but I think I was just another thing to take care of in there busy lives. With you guys and Mac and Olivia, I feel wanted and loved. An I can't just stand the thought of losing any of you, and that's why I'm going with them, so there kids are able to know the feeling of love and being wanted." Maddie looked at him with shock and said,"I had no idea you felt that Jack. Normally I would prevent you from going, but I understand what your going through so I'll let you go. You just have one little issue." Jack looked at her with confusion and said,"What do you mean?" Maddie pointed down the hall at Mac and Olivia as they were coming back and said,"You'll have to convince them." Mac looked at Jack and said,"Is everything okay?" He gave him a curt nod and said,"Yep, never better. I assume Mac told you everything then Princess?" Olivia nodded her head and said solemnly,"Yep. I think what needs to happen next is Mac and I need to disappear for a while until this all blows over with no communication whatsoever as of right now. An we'll leave the kids under your guy's protection and Jack can keep watch." Jack scratched his neck and said,"Actually Maddie's gonna keep watch." Mac looked at him with confusion and said,"What do you mean Maddie's gonna watch them? You'll be here to so you can keep watch." Jack looked at them and said,"Let me put this in simpler terms, I'm coming with you guys." Mac sighed and said," No you need to stay and watch the kids. I don't want to see you guys get hurt, and your already in danger by being friends. You have had my back all these years, now let me return the favor, please Jack." He looked at him and said almost pleading,"Here's the thing though, you have returned the favor multiple times over the years I've known you. You saved my life when I stepped on a pressure plate that last day of my tour, when I thought I was gonna die. You rescued me from a Russian mob who was torturing the living daylights out of me, all by creating a smoke bomb. The list could go on but that's just some of them. Everyone here is like my second family, including the kids. I just feel like that if anything happens to you guys, I'm gonna lose a part of myself. Besides, I wanna make sure you guys stay alive so you can watch your kids grow up and that they are able to have you with them the entire time. Now like I said, I'm coming with you guys." Mac looked at Olivia and said,"What do you think?" She looked at him and said,"I plead the fifth. You decide." As he stood there, he did realize that he has saved Jack's life multiple times, and Jack's done the same for him. There would now be a constant cycle of saving each others lives that would never end till they die. Mac looked at Jack and said,"Are you sure you wanna come with,Jack? There's no turning back once we leave."Jack smirked and said,"I've never been so sure in my entire life. Besides if  I get hurt you can say I told you so." Mac looked at him and said," Don't say I didn't warn you. Now we better get going, we got a long road ahead of us and we wanna get a head start."
