Penelope Jayne Grace and Clarence Quincy Bevver were in several secret organizations, some larger than others. The largest, most important organization that the two were a part of was an organization that worked to bring criminals to justice in small towns like Isle o' Pearl.
You may be surprised to find out that Isle o' Pearl has always been a place racked with crime. Since the police here clearly are of no help, they find that committing crimes is rather easy on this island. That is why Penny and Clare were sent here to solve the crime of the troublesome gang that had settled itself in this town.
Clare and Penny woke early in the morning to dress in darkness and load up some supplies, Penny using her school backpack and Clare with her leather bag. Their old lazy cat strolled into the large bedroom and began to roll on the floor in front of Clare, purring loudly.
Clare reached out for the orange tabby cat, but withdrew her hand when Penny and Clare's supervisors shrieked from the kitchen at them that they were late for school. The girls exchanged a face of displeasure. Though they had been sent to Isle o' Pearl by their organization, they still had to attend the local school (and the only school still open for miles) everyday of the week except for Saturday and Sunday.
This came as a great annoyance to the two, having to waste their days in the inferno building. Though, they got to meet up with the other younglings of Isle o' Pearl who all received the secret code key from Madame Fitzroy, the French journalist who wrote the newspaper and lived in a beach house near the ocean.
Penny and Clare's supervisors burst in sending the cat under one of the beds.
"What do you think you are doing?" scolded Carlie Andrews, Clarence's supervisor. Carlie's twin, Kacey Andrews was Penny's supervisor.
"We were going to go and visit someone. We forgot we had school." Clare made up.They knew that they had school, they had just planned on skipping. They hadn't ever had a sick day, but they thought they would make an exception for the investigation.
"Get in the kitchen, breakfast is ready." Carlie sneered and she closed the door behind her. Penny and Clare glanced at each other and trudged into the kitchen. There was a huge plate piled with any breakfast food you could possibly desire. That was the only advantage to have Kacey and Carlie as supervisors. They were fabulous cooks.
When Penny and Clare arrived in the kitchen, they newspaper was sitting on the floor by the door. Penny picked it up.
MISSING PERSON
This morning Mrs. Bailey's business partner, Mrs. Bethney, discovered that Mrs. Bailey had not come to her shop in the morning as usual and when she went to visit Mrs. Bailey's house after trying to call her several times, she found that it looked suspiciously like Mrs. Bailey hadn't come home after leaving the shop for the evening. Some hints that suggest this is-
"The bus is here!" Kacey sang as she ripped the newspaper from Penny.
