Rain splattered onto the concrete of paradise avenue, light from street lamps above created a warm golden hue to the atmosphere giving comfort to a lonely boy walking in the night. Head hung low, no umbrella, a lost in though teenager was making his way home. Clay didn't have any friends, nor a great family, the only person this boy could talk to was his sister.

Drista was the first person that he told when he came home in tears one fateful afternoon, she listened as he explained how he'd managed to push his friends away. 'It wasn't meant to turn out like this', he thought 'maybe if I didn't tell him I'd still be happy' he questioned trying to make excuses for his miserable life.

Sapnap was always supposed to be a person he could trust, his best friend, but what were those good for when they don't keep your biggest secrets.

The secret in question, Clay was in love with other his bestfriend, George. The three boys met the first day of first grade, it was them versus the world.

They could do anything they imagined, riding dragons through the woods, befriending monsters to chase anyone who was mean to them, so fittingly they dubbed themselves the Dreamteam.

Life was great , Clay was happy but he always wondered if something was missing. Middle school was the first time he knew something was wrong, George and Sapnap were talking about girls they liked in there grade, George was the one who asked Clay if he liked anyone.

Clay thought to himself, but there was only one name that came to mind. He told the boys that he didn't like anyone, but that didn't stop the boys from pestering him.

Clay told his friends the same thing every time "no I don't, stop asking me idiot" but he couldn't help but enjoy the way it made his heart beat vigorously in his chest every time George smiled, or laughed, or talked, or - yeah maybe Clay has high blood pressure.

This feeling soon became unbearable for young Clay, Every waking moment with George caused his heart to beat out of his chest, he felt as though he couldn't take his eyes off of him.

Clay began to realise that this behaviour wasn't normal, yet he always shrugged it off. Finally after months of pushing his feelings to the side, he came face to face with his problems.

It wasn't one thing that caused his sudden realisation, more like an eternity of built up emotion that was bound to overflow at some point.

This point came nearing the end of October. Clay could distinctly set that day apart from any other, brown hues from the crunching leaves underfoot, sweet smelling cinnamon donuts from the local bakery, clouds blocking the sun from burning Clay and his friend, it was the perfect day.

Clay and Sapnap wander the streets looking for something to get for George's birthday. Clay wanted to get something heart felt for the young boy, but every time he found something worth his interest, Clay's gut told him that it wasn't perfect enough.

Clay decided that nothing would be worth his time and opted to make a hand made gift. after picking up all the materials Clay met up with Sapnap then went back to his house.

Clay didn't bother asking what Sapnap got George as he already knew it wouldnt be worth his time. Although Clay loves him, Sapnap doesn't put much thought into things. Clay already knew it would be some kind of football with a twist.

They could hear Sapnaps Mum cooking in the kitchen as they approached the steps to his house, she greeted them while they ran up to Sapnaps room. Setting out all his stuff on Sapnaps bed he got to work.

Clay decided to make George a friendship bracelet , he spent the next hour researching the perfect colours and what they mean. he chose three shades of blue, one because they were George's favourite colour and two because they seemed most fitting. Blue represents loyalty and peace Clay thought it would be perfect.

Clay began to think about everything he admired about George. Clay was soo deep in thought he didn't even notice that Sapnap had been trying to get his attention. A sudden shout caused Clay to break free from his trance  .

"CLAY" Sapnap screamed

"s-sorry what were you saying" clay replied

"I was just asking about why you seem so distracted lately"

"I-its nothing, don't worry about it"

" well its obviously not nothing, come on dude you can tell me"

Clays heartbeat started to quicken in pace, was he really thinking about doing this- I mean sap was his best friend after all, he should get to know

" u-um its George" Clay whispered

"what about George"Sapnap retorted

"everything about him, his laugh, his smile, I don't know I just can't take my eyes off him"

"what are you saying" Sapnap questioned

"I-i think I like him sap." Clay confessed

"please don't tell him, I don't know what id do if he found out" he continued

"W-well I don't think I have much of a choice" said Sapnap

Clays heart dropped to his stomach, did he hear him correctly. Clay never pictured Sapnap as being unsupportive, they had the kind of friendship where they could tell each other anything, yet nothing would change.

"wh-what" Clay stuttered out, still in a state of shock

" Clay think about it, don't you think George has a right to know, - to know about these-these thoughts you've been having. Really Clay its disgusting he's supposed to be your best friend, and after all these years of sticking by your side, this is how you repay him-this is how you repay us"

Sapnap had a vile look on his face, if the devil was a person it would look as he did now. Nothing could have prepared Clay for this moment, he took of down the stairs not even bothering to say goodbye to Sapnaps confused mum. He ran all the way home not bothering to wipe the tears off his face. Once home he sprinted into his bedroom slamming all the doors in his way. his sister was the only other person home, she burst into his room trying to tell him that everything would be all right, that George wouldn't care, that they would all still be friends, hundreds of empty lies were flowing through his ears, he tried his hardest to believe them but he knew in his heart things would never be the same.

Clays small house was now in sight. walking up the corse gravel drive, Clay gave it everything in his power to put on a smile for his younger sister. Quiet as a mouse he hopped up the creaky stairs and slid his front door open being careful not to wake his Dad. He waved silently to his sister and waddled off to bed, pulling the covers up to his head he prayed for tomorrow as he had done everyday since middle school. Felling comfort in his old squeaky bed his let himself drift into the serenity of slumber.
