A/N: Denki is my comfort character and ShinKami is my comfort ship so I don't know why I'm making an angsty fic with them but i was inspired by Miley Cyrus's song "angels like you" to write this so here ya go. There's gonna be about 12 chapters and I can't stress this enough: ANGST! Hope you like it anyway, enjoy your reading!!

P.S: This is the first fic I've ever planned on fully writing and posting so do with that information what you want! Happy reading everyone :p

Kaminari Denki loved being a hero, he really did. In this crazy world, where the majority of people have a quirk, nearly every kid dreams about being a hero when they're older and 5-year-old Kaminari was no different. Unlike many of the other kids though, his mind never wavered and the boy wished to pursue his dream.

When he'd first gotten his quirk, he'd caused some trouble that he still felt bad about to this day, like accidentally electrocuting someone or short-circuiting, which would cause everyone surrounding him to panic. But most of all when his family would have to deal with constant blackouts because he'd cause power outages more often than not. They'd always tried to reassure him and say it was fine but he hadn't believed them.

Both of his parents had electric-type quirks, so they had understood to an extent and forgave him, but he still felt bad. He'd always wanted to help out more, but he was a walking safety hazard. Not. Helpful. So after gaining a bit of control over his quirk he'd decided he was going to help out as much as he could. Help as many people as he could. Be a hero for them. Be a hero in general.

Yes, Kaminari applied to UA, the most prestigious hero school in the country! Did he actually believe he'd get accepted though? Nope. But well, he did get accepted and he was thrilled.

When he got the email stating that he'd be allowed to take part in the entrance exam he practically fell out of his seat and let out an overjoyed scream, that his parents, who had been watching TV in the other room, heard. They ran to his room in a panic but he was quick to reassure them that he was fine and showed them the screen.

The looks on their faces and the sparkles in their eyes told him that they were proud. They were proud of Kaminari. That was all he needed to keep going. He could do this. He could get into UA.

After passing the entrance exam and getting into the hero school he soon realized that he wasn't the best there. He still didn't have enough control over his quirk and he fried his own brain more often than he'd like. But he still got into the hero course, just like the rest of them, so he was going to give it his all. Realistically, he knew he probably wouldn't be too high in the hero rankings and definitely not in the top tens. While he admired his good bro, Bakugou's enthusiasm and urge to be the number 1 hero, he was okay with not being too well-known. He didn't need to be. His parents were proud and his peers saw potential in him and for Kaminari, that was enough.

So yeah, even 7 years later, Kaminari loved being a hero. He was good at his job and everyone recognized that. While he wasn't in the top rankings, he did have his own "Stungun Hero: Chargebolt Fanclub" and he loved everyone in it. They all saw how well he comforts people.

One day, when he was out on patrol, he stumbled upon a scene where Sero was fighting villains and decided to help out a woman that had been visibly distressed. She'd said that her child was still in the building where the fight was happening and he'd put on his best smile, gave her a thumbs-up, and told her in the most reassuring voice he could muster that Cellophane would get her kid out of there as soon as possible. He helped her through what was probably building up to a panic attack and stayed by her side until Sero did in fact come back with her kid.
