Chapter 1

"Another news report about him" I say preparing lunch for my dad and I. "Yes it's another one" he said passing me the box of cereal. "What's up with this guy" I said taking a bite of cereal "Well Y/N we don't know right cause he might've had a rough past" he said turning off the T.V "So how was your weekend with mum." he asked "It was fun we shopped a lot." I said. Here's the thing my parents divorced when I was five and my dad was devastated but he ended up ok in the end. I'm a single child and my dad told me it was hard to choose where I would go but apparently my mum didn't want me so I ended up with my dad. I found that hurtful so now I just see her on the weekends.

Everything is fine now I visit my mum on the weekends but it's still not the same."I gotta go dad I'll see you after school though." I said giving him a hug. "Bye sweetie" he said getting up to clean up. I pick up my stuff and head out the door. I walk to school since the school I go to is only a few blocks away it's only a 15 minute walk which is okay for me. I ended up going to school 5 minutes late and I got a whole talk with my teacher about punctuality and honestly it wasn't fun. It is the beginning of lunch and I sit with my best friend Meredith "Y/N did you watch the news" she tells me picking at her food "Yeah I did" I said taking a bite of the apple. "Isn't it scary" she said looking wide eyed at me. I gave her a strange look "Why scary?" I asked "Well if you kept watching, it said he's now traveling around here and I heard that the school might be doing practice lockdowns."she said.

"Oh" that was all I could say, I had to admit I was scared but I just gotta be positive nothing will happen. I hope...
Lunch was over and I had art class the most fun/boring class. The teacher would always yell at us because we're too "loud" whatever plus it's the only class I have with Meredith and that's the only time I can talk to her. Meredith kept talking about this criminal running around our town and honestly I just wanted to slap her to get her head out of it. "Calm down Meredith if it makes you feel better you can stay at my house until your parents are back form the trip." I said. I forgot to tell you guys but her parents are on a "business" trip why I put quotations it's because they're not actually on a business trip, instead they're on a cruise relaxing and not caring that they have two kids to take care of.

Class was finally over and I was headed for my next class. Gym. Before I could go my phone started to ring, it was my dad "Hey dad" I said walking slowly "Don't come home" he said in a worried/whisper voice "Dad...?" I said feeling unsure why "Just trust me" he said and he hung up like that. WHAT IS GOING ON!!!! At this point I was scared I ditched gym and headed to the office. "Excuse me Ms" I said to the front desk lady "Yes" she said looking up from her computer not giving a care "My dad is here to pick me up" I said "Whatever" she mumbled. I groaned and left to get my stuff from my locker. After that I ran out of the school cause honestly I don't care if I get suspended that lady didn't even care. I started running home hoping nothing bad happened and trying not to think of bad outcomes.
