what do you see?

Alright, you said you had to get back to the van, but really you got distracted by a box of accessories that you just could not pass up. Some of the things you picked out you were definitely going to try to smuggle back into Belle Reve if you made it out alive. Maybe you could convince Waller to let you keep something like a ring or two. By the time you made it to the bus, you were the last one on. Well, Milton was the last one, but he automatically got the driver's seat. He had to take a last minute leak.

There were a couple open spots, but you didn't want to sit next to any of them. Chris would talk your ear off with obscure references, Cleo would probably punch you in her sleep, and you didn't feel like accidently pissing DuBois off. The seats were relatively small, only about one person could fit in a seat, but that was okay since you weren't planning on sitting in one. You made your way to the back where Nanaue was zoning out and Abner was playing with his fingers.

When he saw you he made his way to stand, but you just waved your hand saying it was okay. Making yourself comfortable on the floor in the aisle was not hard, you've been in more uncomfy places. Besides, you had two pillows beside you: King Shark and Polka Dot Man. You made some small talk with them before you embarrassingly fell asleep. You didn't mean to, but whatever. Whoever you were using as a pillow didn't seem to mind since they never once moved you.

"Sleep?" Nanaue pointed out after you passed out for some time.

"It seems so."

Abner was absentmindedly stroking your head as you leaned against his leg.

DuBois pointed at Cleo, "And I thought she was the sleepy one."

"Hey," Cleo retorted. "Don't hate the player, hate the game."

Chris turned around to look at you sleeping in the aisle, eyes narrowed. Everyone resumed what they were doing, and it wasn't until after Cleo told DuBois the story of her dad that Nanaue spoke.

"Pet, pet," Nanaue said as he copied Abner's movement in the air with his hand.

Krill just nodded.

"Me try!"

With surprising gentleness, Nanaue started slowly caressing you with intense concentration. Abner removed his hand from you and opted for observing Nanaue to make sure he wasn't hurting you. It must've felt nice because you became even more relaxed.

Nanaue hummed as he seemed to become more calm.

"Hey! The fuck you think you're doing, Moby Dick?"

"Huh?" DuBois turned around to look at Nanaue after Chris' outburst. DuBois turned back to Chris, "What do ya mean? He ain't doing nothing."

"He's got his big fish hands all over (Y/n)."

"And?"

"What, you want another shark eating incident?"

"I thought we were over this," Cleo sighed. "Leave him alone, he's harmless."

Chris just rolled his eyes and faced forward in his seat before making himself comfortable.

"Friend sleep," Nanaue muttered to himself. He looked like a little get when they pet a dog for the first time.

The van eventually stopped with a screech into some side alley.

"Señores, this is the place."

Abner gently nudged you to wake up, and after a few tries you sleepily yawned and opened your eyes.

"Sorry," you apologized before noticing Nanaue was still petting you. "Nanaue?"

"Calming." Whether he meant that it was calming him or meant to calm you was unsure.
