Chapter 6

The Way That I Am

         “This is all your fault!” Dawn snaps, yellow eyes blazing with rage. I watch as Dawn shifts and gives me a challenging look. I extend my fangs and claws as Dawn starts circling me while growling. “Dawn.” Dalton says but she ignores her twin. “This is all your fault and you’re going to pay for it!” Dawn growls before charging at me.

         I let my eyes glow and I stand my ground before I let out a loud growl filled with power. Dawn instantly shifts back and falls to the floor in summit. I take in a deep breath as I slowly shift back but I let my eyes stay glowing. Dawn stares at the floor panting, fear radiating off her body.

         “This wasn’t any of my fault.” I say sternly with my wolf on edge. “Do you think I wanted them to murder my mother? To beat me to death? To rape me? For two months.” Brody and Dalton look over at me in shock as I spoke. “Yes I understand they murdered your family but they pretty much murdered me. But I’m not going to go challenge way more powerful werewolves for revenge. If you want murder someone go murder the one behind it. But I would hope you wouldn’t be that suicidal.” I say and Dawn slowly stands up.

         Brody flashes his red eyes at her for her disrespect before she quickly leaves. Silence fills the room but it doesn’t last long. “Okay what the hell is going on with your eyes?!” Dalton exclaims and Brody face palms at his beta’s stupidity. I chuckle at this and Dalton sends me a smile.

         “Well when Derek transferred his Alpha power to Cora. I was supposed to become an Alpha but instead I became a True Luna. And since I’m the first ever True Luna my eyes are like this.” I say flashing my eyes to show them better. “Oh my god those are so cool!” Dalton exclaims and Brody nods in agreement.

         Soon I feel two strong arms wrap around my waist and I lean into them instantly. I see both of the boys glance at the bed and their eyes widen. “I see you two are caught up.” Brody mumbles in disgust and Dalton laughs nervously. I wink at the boys and I look up to see Derek smirking. “Okay we’re going to go. And I’m guessing since Malena’s back we don’t have to take care of that little monster anymore?” Dalton says and Derek nods.

         Then Dalton crouches down and calls Junebug over. “Okay little moster don’t ever go hunting for rabbits without me, alright?” He says and I burst out laughing. Dalton gives her one last pet before the boys both leave.

         At the moment I’m finishing up a drawing that has been bugging me for a while. It’s a drawing with all the moon phases in a curve. And in the middle the full moon is bigger than the rest and inside it is two howling wolves. If you haven’t guessed it the two howling wolves are Derek and I. When I put the last touch I fully look at it.

         While I look at it an idea springs into my head. I have been thinking about getting a tattoo and I think this is what I want it to be. Tattooing this drawing on my back would look awesome. Derek soon enters the room and walks towards me. I put the drawing down but upside down so he can’t see it. “Hey Derek what if I told you that I wanted a tattoo.” I say and Derek raises his eyebrows at me. “You want a tattoo.” Derek says and I nod lifting up the drawing and showing it to him.

         I watch Derek’s features as he looks at the drawing. Soon his lips lift up into a huge grin and he looks over at me, pulling me into a kiss. The kiss is long and passionate in every way. Derek slowly cups my face with both of his hands and I put mine over his. I can’t help but smile when Derek slowly pulls away, his green eyes staring intensively into mine.

          “So what do think about me getting a tattoo?” I ask once we’ve caught both our breaths. “I like the idea but being a werewolf it’s complicated.” Derek says and I sigh in annoyance. “Of course it is!” I say dramatically and Derek chuckles a little. “Usually werewolves go get the tattoo like any normal person. But after about ten minutes it starts to heal. Then someone uses their eyes and burns the design into the skin forever.” Derek explains and my eyes are wide.

         “But you might want to ask Brody if there’s a less painful way.” Derek adds and I nod reaching over Derek to grab my phone that Damon bought me. I quickly look for Brody’s number and call it.

B: Hello?

M: Do you know anything about getting tattoos without having to burn it on?

B: Yeah, there’s a tattoo parlor that is ran by werewolves. What they do is put some kind of wolvesbane in the ink to make it stay. I heard it just feels like getting a regular tattoo just burns more.

M: Good, what’s it called?

B: Wolf Tats.

M: Clever name.

B: (laughs) Yeah well I got to go, see you later.

M: Bye!

         “Okay well do you know where this place is?” I ask Derek and he nods looking at the laptop screen. “Yeah it’s about an hour away.” Derek says closing the laptop before pulling me into his arms. “Are you sure you want to get a tattoo?” Derek asks and I nod smiling up at him. “Yeah I’m sure.” I say leaning up to kiss him.

         The young Luna slowly leans up to kiss her mate but Derek beats her to it. Their kiss is amazing but fast because Derek has something on his mind. He pulls back and looks down at his amazing mate questionably. “Malena will you sing something to me?” Derek asks and she looks at Derek in surprise. “Why?” She asks with a curious expression.

         “Because I haven’t heard you singing in a long time. I love it when you sing because it shows how calm you are and it makes me calm.” Derek tells her truthfully and Malena smiles at him with glee. She quickly picks up her phone taping and scrolling away on it.

         Then suddenly a song starts to play out of it. “Okay this song is called “The Way That I Am” by Tove Lo.” Malena says and Derek nods waiting for her to start singing.

(ALL CREDS GOES TO TOVE LO)
